Myth Or Fact?

How's it going Mrs Nick--you're getting through it--I see. We're at about the same spot in our quit process. I say take the NRT if it is making this any easier. I am taking Wellbutrin this time--I think it may be helping. Stay Strong and focused on the prize!!!! ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 150 Amount Saved: $33.75 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 28 Seconds: 58

Quitting this week

Hello Kathy meg---Yes you can do it! I also quit recently & have spent more time on the SSC than I can believe. It really does help to see that SO many folks have gone through this & have been successful. Ice water, prayers and frequent visits to this site have helped me through 'he**' week. Best wishes---we too CAN do it. Gratitude Attitude

What a great thread... (I now know what that means:)....& I'm grateful Here is my gratitude list: I am grateful for my fiance who is kind and sweet & supportive (and a non-smoker) My children, their accomplishments and disappointments--(The disappointments bring us closer together) My dog who is so faithful--Buddy (my golden retriever) For the ability to work--and to have a job that I love For my mom & brothers and their families (all non-smokers) Right now--I am especially grateful to have found SSC. Like most smokers the thought to quit just seemed tooooo overwhelming and un-doable. Reading & re-reading over the last 3 weeks I have listened to SO many amazing stories along with non-smoking success. You have touched my soul & given me courage that I did not know I had. For this I thank You ALL Deb My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 9 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 270 Amount Saved: $60.75 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 2 Mins: 50 Seconds: 40

my quit date is tommorrow.. HELP

hey rrains, please think about the hours that you have already been smoke free. Don't threw them away. The really strong urges will let up if you keep holding on to your quit. (otherwise they'll be back every half hour or so-when you are at your regular tobacco intake). Keep the ice water close & tell yourself you are a non-smoker; therefore smoking is not an option, so you'll have to do something else. If we can do this---SO CAN YOU.... Isn't it great to say YIPEE or WOOOOHOOOO; I'm a non-smoker!!!! I am finding a new Doctor!

Hey Grin--sounds like your weight is right where it should be. If your Dr knew anything about nicotine he would have been congratulating you for your entire visit. I too kept my weight under control with the cigarettes. I also looked like my grandmother with the wrinkles and sunken cheekbones. I am 10 days into my quit, but can already feel the tightening of the pants. Tell me, girl, how did you keep the gain down to only 5 pounds? I do go to the gym 4-5 times a week--but my appetite has dramatically increased. (Used to have coffee and cigs until dinner) Yuk... You did a fabulous job quitting smoking & only gaining 5 pounds. WEIGH to GO, Grin ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/1/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 10 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 300 Amount Saved: $67.50 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 5 Mins: 18 Seconds: 5

Topic: CBT Day ? Positive Thinking

Congratulations Gen on your upcoming 1 year anniversary. You should be SOOOOOOOOO proud. And Jim--congrats on getting through hell week. I do say that positive thinking is a definite influence on being successful on the war against the nicodemon. I found that this site has been really helpful in showing me to remain positive as well as enlightening mein my quit. When the craves come, I have been turning around the self pity (oh this is so hard, poor me--which I think sabotaged me with past attempts) with thoughts like--sorry --not an option--I don't smoke. I think this has made this quit a bit easier and bearable. For whatever reason -- it is easier this time--I have to say I do believe it's reading the REAL stories and triumps and bumps along the way of real folks who are at war with the nicodemon as well. Thank you to all of you who are sharing this journey & sharing your thoughts, triumps and disappointments.
