WOW--how well written & what a heartfelt entry. Thanks so much for sharing with us so openly. Denise--for many of us this jouney to become smoke free will open old wounds that were surpressed by lighting up in many cases.
Everyone copes differently, but as smokers many of our problems or hurts were quieted with our 'best-friend'. Not good, not bad--it just was. Of course, we all know they are/were not our best friend; but none the less were treated as such for so long.
Utilzing this site and the vast experiences and coping skills that we can find here (by giving & caring people--like you)--will help SO many people who are desparately trying to beat this addiction.
Thank You, Denise.....{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}

ICL--keep reminding yourself you HAVE a choice & are in control of whether your meter keeps rolling or it begins over again. YOU ARE IN CONTROL--keep reminding the junkie that the negative thoughts--- they are just that & nothing will be fixed from smoking--most people say it makes them feel worse. So refresh your memory on the precious reasons you listed to be motivated to quit. And keep reminding yourself the nicodemon is underhanded & will try almost any thought to get his fix. BE STRONGER THAN HIM. I can tell by your stats that YOU CAN DO This. Just get over this hump --water, deep breathing & lots of time on the SSC should be a great place to start. Remember THIS CAN BE DONE...

More than once just repeating to myself (and the urges)--NOPE--cause I know that one puff means back to a pack & a half a day for me...
Not having to worry about matches & cigs and mints to cover the smoke-smell & how I could slip away from meetings to smoke & then cover the smell before I get back---is also a good remender to why to stay quit.
The SSC has also proabably been the single biggest inspiration via education & watching the success stories showing that this CAN be done...
