Struggling!!!

Mich, I'm being tortured by the same addict thinking - and doubting my ability (and sometimes desire) to make it through the weekend. I've tried to schedule some plans with friends/family to keep me busy; I have several craft projects ready, etc. But, I know it's going to be extremely hard; and I'm worried about my ability to handle it. So, let's fight this together. I look forward to Monday when we'll be proudly reporting a few more days to our count! SLEEP DEPRIVATION =(

Crystal & Panda - I see that we are all at about the same point in Hell Week. I share your sleep misery - it's horrible. It has to get better as our bodies adjust! In addition to being sleep deprived...I have a ton of physical symptoms -- My head is all stuffed up, my throat is sore, etc. -- I sound & feel like I have a bad cold. Anyone else have this? starting to slide down that slope...

I'm on DAy #8. I made it through the weekend - a huge accomplishment for me! It was really difficult. I had outings with friends/family planned, arts & crafts projects to do, etc. However, I was sick as a dog all weekend (odd exression...do dogs get really sick?) and couldn't do anything. Sinuses all stuffed up, sore throat, fatigue but inability to sleep, etc. So, I had 2 days of lying in my apartment with no good distractions. By the way, being sick never stopped me from smoking in the past, so it didn't help my cravings. Everyone had told me that after a few days smoke-free I'd start experiencing some amazing things such as: improved sense of taste & smell, fuller breathing, increased energy, etc. But due to this cold - I don't have any of these things. So, there seems to be less positive reinforcment; and more chance for my addict voice to tell me that everything has gone done hill since I quit. And - I'm fighting intense ideas/plans about relapsing when I get home from work tonight. Got Sick

Smiling, Phew. I'm glad I'm not alone! I'm on Day #9 and have been really sick for the past 4 days - started with a sore throat, then moved into total head congestion. And let me tell you, my head is not the only thing stuffed! Along with tons of water, I've been eating Metamucil wafers daily, eating only fruit & fiber, snacking on raisins, and yesterday I actually bought prunes! I was whining yesterday because I can't smell or taste anything (2 of the things to look forward to in a quit) and I feel miserable from head to toe. Anyway - it seems that this is all part of the process. It's scary to think how smoking seemingly effects every bodily function!!! A wise post yesterday reminded me that this is another milestone --- my first illness without smoking! ;) We'll get through this together! "Struggling" Has Left SSC!!!!!!!

A few days back Martha made the wise suggestion of changing my post name from "Struggling", to something more positive. I've been thinking about this and realize that my name was yet another way to focus on the negatives of quitting, to indulge in the victim role, to announce my self-pity, etc. Well, I've reached Day #9 and I think it's time to make some changes. So, from here on forward, my new name will be "Changing".... Changing my behavior, my thoughts, and my feelings ---- Changing my life!
