Clare -
I see on your quit meter that you've gained 4 more days with your husband and daughter. That should be a pretty strong motivation to keep fighting the fight!
How did you make it through 55+ days? Whatever it was - do it again!
IT IS POSSIBLE. YOU CAN DO IT. YOU WILL DO IT.

If you must drink.... How about wearing the patch that night? That way, you can't smoke as it would make you sick?

DJ - What is your morning routine? I use to:
get up
take a shower
watch t.v. & have a smoke
get dressed
leave for work.
Now, I:
get up
take a shower
get dressed
watch t.v. & have breakfast (and my Chantix)
leave for work
The simple act of switching up my normal routine has helped me endure the morning cravings.
One other thing that has helped me in the morning when I'm craving is to tell myself "I'm having a craving thought, but I don't smoke so move on". Text

Try to spend as much time out of the house as possible! Do you have your own room? If so, clean & air it out. Keep the door closed with a towel under the door - make this the clean air/healthy living zone. Are you stocked up on healthy goodies to munch on? Sugar-free candy & gum, crunchy veggies, etc? Are you drinking a ton of water? Also, have you ever considered medication - I'm taking Chantix for the first time and it's really helping so far!

I'm anxious to hear Interesting's response to Iamallclear's question re: how to cope with the drive home.
I'm on day 5. Tomorrow night, I have to drive 1.5 hours (alone). This will be my first time driving as a non-smoker and am feeling apprehensive about it. I know my car is going to stink like smoke (it's been in a garage since before I quit), and I plan to have it thoroughly cleaned - but I'll still have that 1.5 hour drive first. Besides gum, water, & music...any other tips?

Jame - It's so helpful to hear positive experiences like this. Thanks for sharing!
One thing I've been thinking about...I wonder how dogs are effected by second-hand smoke? I use to smoke around my dog. I would never smoke around a child, but never thought about my poor dog!

I can't tell if I'm having any side effects from Chantix....hard to separate withdrawal from side effects. But, the only side effect I had the first week of Chantix (when I was still smoking) was sleepiness.

Angelcapp - I'm on day 5 of my quit. The day before my quit day was more stressful than the quit day itself! The apprehension and anticipation just about did me in. And, I also had some very stressful life events that happened at the same time. For a moment I thought (because of these particular stressful situations going on)- "this isn't a good time to quit". Then I realized that (1) That is my addiction talking and (2) There is never a good or bad time.
My point is, I can appreciate how you feel and I encourage you to hang in there! Take it one moment at a time. You can and will get through today. You can and will start your new healthy life tomorrow!

Your positive attitude is inspiring! Also glad to hear that stopping the Chantix didn't send you into a tailspin. That's something I'm a bit worried about...but one day at a time!
Keep up the great work!
