238 days! Wow - way to go....today has been good day but cravings starting so set in. That means bedtime soon - and another smoke-free day tomorrow. My smoking friends....

Was just thinking that my old roommate quit several years ago. When we became roommates, we were both smokers. After she quit, I continued to smoke in the house. Now, we are still good friends but we have different homes (no fights - we just have jobs in different cities and new men in our lives). When I was at her home, I smoked outside. When she came to my home, I smoked inside (but usually close to the door). I doubt this helps you any...you just made me remember this. Wow. what a hellish night

Glad you made it through the nite "Time to do it". Nothing like abit of exercise to make us remember how much we like or lungs. Don't you wish there was some magic pill that could make these cravings go away. Thank God for this room - closest thing to a magic pill. Am I going to spend the rest of my life hiding under the blankets?

Well..it's day 8 and I'm still going...but I have to admit that I woke up this morning feeling a little discouraged. Evenings are always my worst time because I am not busy and because this is when I did all of my smoking. The days pass by quickly. I got through my first week of evenings by drinking water, eating candies and drinking green tea. When the cravings got too strong, I snuggle up in bed and watch t.v. Sometimes, I am ready to go by the time supper is over...other times I last till 11 or so. I used to be a night hawk. Crawling into bed seems to help with the cravings but I don't want to spend the rest of my life there. Please don't recommend household chores...I hate housework and always do it first thing in the day when I have the energy to do it. I feel like I'm coping but I want to start living! I never used to have trouble relaxing at home but it drives me bonkers these days. One more question - Cravings and the Patch

Guess I'm going to be the post hog tonight....but I was just wondering about others who have used the patch. I'm only on day 8 of my quit and I am using the patch. These seems to help postpone my craving until after supper but it doesn't make them go away. The cravings physically feel like being very hungry and not having food or being very thirsty and not having water. Why am I having cravings when nicotine is still in my blood strem? Do other people have cravings while on the patch? I smoked about 20 cigs a day before quitting so I would think that 21 mgs should be plenty of nicotine in my system. Any/all feedback welcomed. New quitter

Hi Dave. Welcome to SCC! What a wonderful place to be. This is one heck of a roller coaster ride but were are all in it together, holding each other's hand during the tough spots. Sometimes, I enjoy the ride, sometimes I beam with pride, but there are many times I hold on by my fingertips. The great thing is that there are good days in between those bad ones. There are great people and great tools in this room. Don't forget to post and let us know how you are doing. We'll be with ya! The Junkie Strikes!!!!!

Me too! Wish I could get that monkey off my shoulder and run over him with the car. (Ooops...there's that mean and cranky windy talking again) I keep reminding myself that I wasn't really calm before I quit. I kept planning when I was going to get to have my next cigarette. I couldn't relax and enjoy smoke-free events....avoided my friends that didn't smoke. After ball games, my nephews always invite us back for a pop. I always decline because 2 hours was long enough to go without smoking. (My goodness - I had less time to get those 20 smokes in before bed!!) I have missed out on so much by smoking. I want to enjoy the ball game and the visit after. Gotta get those smokes out of my life and out of my mind!
