Blues

Hey Marie - you are such a source of strength for us newbie's that I wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you during your 100 day blah! You are such a strong, amazing woman that I know you will work through this. And hey - I bet you look pretty hot in those suede boots! Wooweee! Today is my quit day !

Way to go Debi! And this room will help! I come on here when I feel great and I come on here when I feel like I'm falling apart and everyone is always so supportive. Congrats on your first day! You can do it! Reward ideas!

Hi Folks I keep hearing about the importance of rewarding yourself and I can see why this is very important. Smokes used to be my reward at the end of the day. Honestly, there really isn't anything that I am dying to buy. We don't have children, so, if I really wanted to, I could probably go out and treat myself. I already go out for supper/show with friends when the opportunity comes up. I guess that means I have been spoiling myself for way too long! I think that I need a reward at the end of the day and, honestly, I think I want it to be something that makes me feel relaxed, etc. How do you reward yourselves? Any ideas? I'm such a fool to think I could actually quit cold turkey

Hi Hopless Well...I'm here for you...no radical quitter here. I am doing this one day at a time and it isn't easy. I quit for 4 days last week and 5 this week. So far I am smoke free but, for me, right now, I am doing this one day at a time. Out of 9 days I've probably had 2 very good days but I haven't had a single day where I haven't craved a smoke. I know I have to COMMIT, but my commitment is for today. If someday, I slip and fall, I will have learned something to help me for my next quit. This is a journey and we are all taking it together. I haven't told my friend's or family that I am quitting because I don't want the pressure. This is my quit and I'll do it my way. I'll be with you! And there will be lots of "gentle" support, I promise! People don't understand

I think your neighbour deserves a good spanking for being so judgemental. I would LOVE it if I was one of those people who could quit like a breeze....but I'm not. She should thank her lucky stars that she got off so easy because she has no idea!!! Makes me mad and I wasn't even there! Nobody chooses to feel sad or depressed (Hey - it's Saturday ... I don't want to have fun, I want to be depressed) I can't believe that some people are so STUPID that they think that anyone would want to feel this way. The great thing is that you are doing SOOOOOO well with your quit and you know that these bad days will get better. I am so proud of you! I am alot newer in this process than you but I am gradually finding things that are helping me to feel better when I am "down". Stay with the positive people and avoid the one's that think they "KNOW IT ALL". They are almost as poisonous as nicotine. Saturday noon...

Don't you just hate those BLAH days! Thank God we have the good ones in between. 24 days! Way to go! I'll be thinking of you today. Exercise seems to be the only thing that can pull me out of the blahs once they start (but sometimes I just have to crawl into bed and feel sorry for myself) and all this in 5 days (like I think I know anything about quitting) We'll be with ya! Hope the blahs turn to betters! I'm cranky and mean tonight!

Yippeee! I get to be part of the cranky club!! Jan - maybe they should have a room like this for our poor hubbies that have to put up with us! My cat is getting more attention than he ever has (since I'm going to bed MUCH earlier he is getting lots and lots of snuggles and will be permanently spoiled) He's helping share my chair while I type this message. Not quite so cranky today and heading downtown to see my nephew drumming and my friend's daughter dancing! Take care! cravings are less

Thanks for the post Valic...we newbies need to hear from people like you. This is my first week (day 5) so I seem to be a little obsessed with the smokes right now. I am looking forward to the day when I can stop thinking about them. Congrats on 2 months! Awesome!
