I'm cranky and mean tonight!

Well...I've made it from Monday to Friday so this will be my first weekend smoke free. Somedays have been awful and some have been okay. By the end of today, I did NOT want to talk to ANYONE! My partner wanted to call my good friend's hubby and, at first, I said that they wouldn't be home (because I didn't feel like talking anyone). I had to call another friend because her Dad is in I.C.U. and I have been worried about her....then my PAGER WENT OFF!! I thought I CANNOT deal with anyone in crisis right now. I decided I would return the call and do my best to refrain from smoking. Fortunately, it wasn't a big problem...but sometimes I don't have alot left to deal with anyone else's problems by the end of the day. I figured that I was going to have to learn how to deal with stress without cigarettes...but for this first week, the quit seems to be stress enough. Any other cranky people out there? Any suggestions? What makes you Sad ~

Hi Shaila - I love all the fun and I love to hear all the inspirational stories. I do happy...but I do sad too. (sometimes I do them at the same time) I remember when my older nephew were graduating from high school and heading off to university. I was so proud and happy and I couldn't figure out why I was melancholy the next day....But I could remember when they were babies, cute little toddlers and now they were handsome, independent men starting new lives and I knew I wouldn't see them as often. I am still so proud of all these kids (young adults..some of them now) and I love to watch them achieve their goals but I don't think there's anything wrong with feeling a little sad because I'm going to miss them. Honestly, quitting smoking can make me feel sad because it has been such a crutch (however - it hasn't been a friend and I WON'T be sad when it's permanently out of my system and out of my mind) I guess I can be proud of my own achievements and independence then! Does any one ................

I never noticed them when I opened the first box. (I quit for 4 days last week) but I noticed it when I opened up a second box this week. I don't know if it's because they are a different box of patches (same brand) or because my nose is getting more sensitive. Go figure!!?? When Do You Go From Being an Ex-Smoker to a Nonsmoker

I've been thinking about the words "ex" and "non" only because I am looking forward to a day when I don't want a cigarette for the entire day. This is my first week so every day I have cravings (despite using the patch) Somedays they are bad, sometimes only last a moment. Right now when I wake up the first thought in my head is that I cannot smoking...but I want to reach a point when the first thought is "do I want cheerios or scrambled eggs" (without even thinking about smoking) How long has this taken for other people? Hi Jan Thought I'd just check in with you and say hi. I'm cranky tonight so I've been holing up under a blanket in front of the t.v. ....but no smokes! Hope you have a great weekend!
