Hi everybody!

Hey, Zam........welcome! You are still pretty early in the quit, so unfortunately you are going to come across some "bad craving days" still.....usually after "Hell Week" (week 1) and "Heck Week" (week 2) you get into what is fondly referred to as "Blah Week". This is when the cravings can sneak up on you, instead of pounding into your head 24/7. You just start a good thing of a day or two or three, then, outta nowhere, WHAM!! It's definitely different for everyone, just keep your guard up.....make sure you have something handy (gum, licorice, candies, straws, toothpicks, etc) and JUST SAY NO. Plus, keep posting and reading here. This site is FULL of people willing to lend an ear or two! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 33 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 509 Amount Saved: $222.75 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 1 Mins: 32 Seconds: 56

Mo, a bumpis when you find an older post, and want to force it to the "top of the pile" so others can find it easily. To do this, you hit "Reply to this discussion" on the post you want to bump, generally just saying "bumping for so-and-so" and then it moves it up to the top of the forum....... HI to all!

Welcome........post whenever you feel you need support.......there is always someone on, and ready to listen. Make sure you have prepared for this - it's like anything else in life, rarely are you able to get by just "winging it". Follow the guide in the SSC, stock up on whatever it takes to see you through. Candies, gum, etc. Then, just do it. We're behind you......!! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 33 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 509 Amount Saved: $222.75 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 1 Mins: 32 Seconds: 2

oh yeah. I had my monkey right beside me when I quit drinking 9 years ago, and now he's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.............. :eg: That little nagging voice in your head - he can knock everything else out until you just hear the same thing over and over again.....wantasmokewantasmokewantasmoke wantasmokewantasmokewantasmokewantasmoke WANTASMOKEWANTASMOKE He is evil. (or she, not to offend the gentlemen.....)But I'm glad to hear you were able to back yours into a tiny little room and lock the door..... Being stressed is sooooooo hard right now, because our urge is to smoke. Probably more so when stressed, if you are anything like me. That was my coping mechanism. You said "testing your willpower".....that's a good way of looking at it - a test - and YOU PASSED. Congrats! There will be more tests, many more, and most of them sneak up on you (can't study), but you can be prepared! Awesome job, redrosie......... :) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 33 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 506 Amount Saved: $222.75 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 1 Mins: 8 Seconds: 22

tough time ahead next week

thanks, WPB3, and glad to hear you survived! I definitely am taking my laptop on my trip...... I am very fortunate for this first 3 day trip, (starting tomorrow) none of my coworkers attending are smokers. And we probably will be locked in a little room together (team meeting) so if I were a smoker, I would be going thru agonizing withdrawl symptoms anyway, trying to NOT go out! The next trip (this Thursday coming)is a short one - day long - no hotel room to be bored in, but then comes the BIG ONE. I could be out for a two week stint in February.......to the Caribbean, of all places (sucks to be me, really it does......) That one isn't confirmed as of yet, but it will be the BIG TEST as I am on my own (no coworkers) I'll let you know, but I am 100% confident the tripS this week will be successful. I am alone in my rental car, but being alone in a car isn't a huge trigger for me any longer, and as I said, I don't want to reek of smoke with my other nonsmoking cohorts! Plus, one of my rewards for a 30 day quit was a new outfit. I want to keep this as the first one I have purchased as a non-smoker! thanks! HAVE I LOST IT OR WHAT

Bonbons..... You are having those incessant, demanding junkie thoughts and they will drive you crazy and never stop unless you can tell them to. Either just keep saying NO to yourself, out loud, or in your head, or just start doing something that will truly be a distraction, so the junkie doesn't have room to slip in and start chattering again. Here's a post that Shevie bumped yesterday......where folks can post all of their own strange junkie thoughts........and here I thought I was the only crazy one around here! Junkie Thoughts Stay strong.......!! help

oh man......usually it doesn't take much for the nicodemon to slide in and start whispering, but you have the door cranked wide open.....I am so sorry to hear about your family...... BUT - WILL SMOKING MAKE IT ALL DISAPPEAR? Or will you have to deal with the news AND feel disgusted with yourself for throwing away a 21 day quit???????? Please, try to find a new way of coping with tragedy. It's so easy to go back to what you know, and are comfortable with.....you need new comfort. I hope you can find it. Stay strong......... A slave to the cigarette!

Not having to plan where you are going to smoke, when you are going to smoke or IF you can smoke. Do I have enough, where can I get more, ah sh*t, i'm driving with non-smokers, when can we stop........ it goes on and on and on and on..... Just not worrying about it at all is freedom I didn't realize I was missing.......until now My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 33 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 506 Amount Saved: $222.75 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 1 Mins: 6 Seconds: 48
