Gonna try AGAIN!

hey there.......welcome back. I think what tends to help the "freak outs" is posting as much as you can, and reading a lot too. I had my own "wee freakout" and was able to pull thru it knowing I had so many people here who were ready to virtually sit on me to keep me from slipping. The are a great group of people..... good luck with your quit! I may need a little help! My mind is strong but my willpower wanes constantly.

hey lightness....... My family is up in Canada, I'm here in Florida, and I can tell you that "back home" smokes cost about 10.00-11.00 CAN (coupla dollars less in US funds) and that's for the 25 pck. The 20's are about 7 dollars or so. Don't know why smokes are so cheap down here. Not necessarily a good thing....although I know for a fact that Canadians still keep smoking regardless of how much $$$ is costs! (my dad, cousin, and countless other friends are proof!) At any rate......I too will turn the BIG 40 this year (yikes) and for some of the same reasons as you (couldn't convince myself any longer that I did NOT have smoker's cough or wheeze...) I quit. Keep reading here, post A LOT. There are a lot of really cool people and if you read thru the last few weeks posts, you'll get to know them quite well. Welcome aboard! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 43 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 659 Amount Saved: $290.25 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 23 Mins: 13 Seconds: 31

Yesterday was the worst out of 40 days

well..........i feel like the inside of my cheek is made of hamburger, throat is pretty raw and sore and i'm still "out of sorts" but so far nothing i can't manage....... thanks for checking up Luci-Lou.....i think as long as i can remain civil to my husband it should be OK. but i'm gonna stay close to here just in case My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 43 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 650 Amount Saved: $290.25 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 21 Mins: 58 Seconds: 38

Yesterday was the worst out of 40 days

thanks, Lucy and Butterfly. yes, i'm at home. i'm ALWAYS at home (work from home). problem is, hubby is ALWAYS at home too. he also works from home. so.......i really can't take a bath, or have a nap right now - even working from home, bosses have eyes in the backs of their heads! He has left to run some errands. house is finally quiet and he has our one and only vehicle. let's hope he stays out for a VERY LONG TIME to give us both some cooling space. thanks again. i'm not that desperate that i'll walk...... Yesterday was the worst out of 40 days

:gasp: :gasp: :gasp: :gasp: that's me practicing my deep breathing, except i'm not exhaling. i'm still nekkid and still not smoking. I know deep down that it never helps anything, but obviously I don't have a substitute (except for crying, and that NEVER helped anyway!) It was lousy timing getting rid of the patch, however i generally don't plan a knock-down, drag-out fight. or at least i try not too. i appreciate EVERYONE's help......this truly does work....... ;) still 42 days and counting.................... Yesterday was the worst out of 40 days

oh man. thank GOD i don't live within walking distance of a store. that's all i can say. BIG BIG fight this morning. once again, he has threatened to move out/divorce me - i say "good riddance" as i usually do. then he goes on his merry way as if noting he said or did hurt me. i digress. you don't need to hear my marital woes. bottom line is - this is the worst fight since i've quit, and i swear to god if this doesn't get better SOON i am out that door like a shot to the closest gas station/store. Yesterday was the worst out of 40 days

Man oh man. I am so glad yesterday is over. :gasp: Not so sure I like where today is going, :8o: but I'll deal with each part once it arrives! I decided to not use the patch any longer. I was having issues with the timing of putting it on and off, and the damn things won't stick in the shower, which is a real pain in the patootie. So. I stopped. And yesterday I think ALL of your little junkie thoughts and nicodemon monkeys paid me a visit. At least, it felt that way. I had EVERY rationalization in the book spinning thru me. Plus, I had a fight with my hubby which, even with the patch, leaves me with a nasty crave to battle with. But, I did not give in. I ate like a freakin' horse (not good, since at the same time I quit, I was also diagnosed with diabetes), but figured my endocrinologist would forgive me slipping one day if it meant not smoking. I also went for a long bike ride, read a book and got caught up on some TV shows I missed while travelling (TIVO is a beautiful thing). Let's hope today is better. Pls wish me luck. I'm gonna need it.... Yesterday was the worst out of 40 days

thanks everyone.........I too have tried to post mainly positives (attaboys and attagirls) for others when they go thru a rough patch, and "leech" off of the advice given by the sages (you know who you are, oh mighty ones)when i hit a crave or two or three....... this time was crazy and i needed a virtual slap across the face....because i was truly hysterical. with wanting to smoke, that is. generally i am not that theatrical (except while arguing, and i take no prisoners). it was g**damn rough. I NEVER went thru that in Hell Week. the screaming mimi's and blind lust for a smoke. man oh man........save me from myself, and you all helped. thanks is all i can say, but it is heartfelt..... :) (and I'm STILL NOT SMOKING) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 42 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 642 Amount Saved: $283.5 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 20 Mins: 46 Seconds: 34

Retread.......................

Mrs Payfer.......Elizabeth...... Hang in there. Sounds strange for me to be encouraging you, when my day today was HELL ON EARTH. You can read my post and what I went thru - it's called "Yesterday was the worst out of 40 days" It'll give you an idea of my pain - maybe you can empathize?? I too am a (sober) alcoholic of 10 years........so I feel your pain there as well. It's funny - in a perverse sort of way - I have been fantasizing lately about when I am 80 or 90 and ready to leave this world, I'll have a glass of Scotch and a smoke to say goodbye. It's cruel what we do to ourselves, isn't it??? The pain our brain puts us thru to get a "fix"? Anyway.......hang tight. Go to bed (if you are in the Eastern Standard Time Zone, that is!) Works for me......and I'm heading there right now. I hope to chat w. you tomorrow and find out you made it thru.........
