After 38 years of smoking a pack a day, I quit Oct. 13th, 2007 at 10 pm.

I started smoking when I was 12 years old, don't even know when I started inhaling. I have tried everything to quit, patches, gum, accupuncture, hynotism, - you name it I have tried it, and never make it past a day. It has now been 5 days, and I am doing pretty good, I have not even has a single drag and this time, I am going to beat these things! It is hardest when I am driving, at work when I take my break and in the morning when I wake, but so far so good. For some reason, this time, I feel like I will be a permanent non smoker for good now, and I feel like god is helping me. Heres to being a permanent non - smoker for life! N.O.P.E.! thanks for your words everyone. It is great to meet new people and know the advise I am getting is from folks that understand completly what I am going through. I am still working my NOPE program, and have one more day of work to get through until I get two days off. Work has been the toughest for some reason. Keep those posts coming as I appreciate every one of them. bobbi, You have been smoke free for 6 months and you still are fighting the cravings? I don't know if I have to fight this everyday for more that 6 months, not sure I can do that. I hoped that after a couple of weeks It would be a lot easier. Morning cravings

Hi, I used to get up, get a cup of coffee, smoke a cigarette, and then grab a bowl of cereal. Now, I get up, and grab a bowl of cereal first thing, this keeps by mouth and hands busy and the urge goes away until I finish the cereal, then I get up and head to the sink and brush my teeth right away. I am usually okay after that. You can do this. It is hard, but you can do this. stopped Thrive Lozenges, it's like quitting all over again.

For the first two days, I used Thrive 2mg lozenges. For the next four days, I used Thrive 1 mg. lozenges. Friday night at midnight I stopped using the lozenges period. It has now been 68 hours since I have stopped the lozenges so, that I am cold turkey period. I did not want to quit smoking and then have to quit the helper program too months later. The first 24 hours of stopping the lozenges was just like quitting all over again, but now it is back to normal. So, I am non - smoker cold turkey for heck week this week. Got through hell week. Need to get through heck week now.
