My name is Sam.. Hello

I have smoked for 34 yrs and today is the beginning of the rest of my life as a non smoker. I've been doing quite a bit of reading here and other places on the net and I've come prepared. However, there are so many roadblocks ahead - learning how to just 'be' without a smoke in hand, dealing with stress, again, without a smoke in hand and the list goes on. I will be coming here often to pick your brains for advice and support. Wishing everyone a very good smoke free Saturday :) Sam

My name is Sam.. Hello

First off.. thank you for the warm and encouraging welcome ! Well it's almost 2 p.m. and I've been keeping quite busy. I don't want to be so busy that I run myself into the ground though. I've been pacing myself and taking little breaks in between. It's quite amazing how much more time one seems to have when you're not smoking. I have my evening all planned out..lol.. I totally agree that mixing things up will be absolutely crucial to not smoking. I already cleaned my 'smoking space' and it smells just great - So when I settle in maybe with a dvd and some healthy snacks my environment will be totally the opposite of what it was :) Ok.. thanks again all and sure hope you're all enjoying your day ! major crave woke me up!

I was woken up at 2:30 a.m. with such a craving ! ! ! ! I'm using the patch and I read that if you sleep with it on your sleep patterns may be disturbed, plus some vivid dreams so I figured I'd remove it about an hour before I went to bed last night.. And now here I am WIDE awake and stumbling around with a glass of water in hand. It's not a nice feeling waking up like that but I'm hanging in. I now wonder if I should leave the patch on.. oh I'm so confused.. and confusion comes to me quite easily. Any suggestions.. leave patch on? take patch off? I can't possibly go through waking up at such a cruel hour every day you know? Soooo tired :( My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/23/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 15 Amount Saved: $5.44 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 11 Seconds: 4

major crave woke me up!

'Morning Ex Roller, It's a 24 hr patch and I'm hanging in .. just soooooooo tired and felt soooooooooooo confused with that craving. It was really bad :( I'm just now sitting here, the craving has gone, but I surely don't want to go through THAT again. It's really disturbing you know? I just didn't expect it and my body felt like it was turned inside out - shakey, sweating and overall yucky! I put on another patch right after I woke up and will do more reading about it.. I did get a lot of info from my pharmacist about it and was just trying to avoid the sleep disturbance mostly because I already have a heck of time with falling asleep and then staying asleep. I suppose it's just a matter of trial and error until I figure out which one is the lesser of two evils. Thanks so much for responding so quickly :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/23/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 15 Amount Saved: $5.44 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 13 Seconds: 58

major crave woke me up!

Nope.. couldn't go back to sleep. Instead I took a long hot shower and now I'm going out for a walk. It's the beginning of a very beautiful day and I want to get out before it gets too hot. I've got my water bottle and some gum so I think I'm set. Ok.. took a deep breath and here I go! Have a great smoke free Sunday :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/23/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 15 Amount Saved: $5.44 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 29 Seconds: 4
