Hey Ranger ! Welcome :)
I'm in my 4th day as a non smoker and this is THE place
to be for support, guidance, advice and lots of wise suggestions!
I agree, do the workbook to the left and read, read, read !
Wishing you all the best ;)

Thanks Lynne and Unhooked :)
Yes Unhooked Ex is looking after me like a mother to her
cub.. sooooooooo sweet :)
Today had moments of high anxiety and I am so proud of myself
with the way I was able to cope with it and I didn't even
think once that smoking was an option ! Isn't that the coolest?!
I've NEVER been through a really stressful/anxiety ridden day/
moment without grabbing a smoke and TODAY I DID IT WITHOUT ONE !
Now I'm just plain tired .. I am going to throw in a dvd -
The Devil Wore Prada and surround myself with lots of cut up
veggies, homemade low cal dip and ice water.
Goodnight all and have a good evening ;)

Has anyone else felt a heaviness in their chests in their
non smoking journey ? I'm into day 5 and I feel like I
smoked 2 packs in a short period of time.
My chest isn't congested, I'm not coughing up or even
clearing my throat - just this feeling of heaviness.
Let me know if this has happened to you. Thanks :)

Thanks Janna for your response.
Good to know that I am not alone with this feeling.
I don't feel particularly anxious so hopefully it's
just the healing process. I would think that our
bodies will go through a number of changes - all
positive ones !
Well I'm just going to keep an eye on this and yes,
if it does persist I will consult my dr. I was also
thinking that maybe it's the high levels of heat, smog
and humidity in the air - we're having a heat wave in
Toronto so maybe that's a contributing factor. Either
way I'm aware of the feeling and won't let it get worse
than it is right now.
Thanks again :)

Good morning Tresa :)
Thank you so much for your concern about me.. ;)
I actually posted about the heaviness in my chest when
I woke up today - Like I'd smoked 2 packs in a short
period of time. It was a little unnerving but now it's
passed.
I do see this journey as something celebratory, a new
me, a fork in the road and I'm choosing that smoking is
not an option for me .. EVER !
The encouragement I'm receiving here is beyond my wildest
dreams.. It's certainly motivating me to get through the
next moment, the next day :)
Btw Tresa - I LOVE YOUR OCCUPATION ! LOL ! And your stats
are truly fantastic !
Have a super day and thanks again for checking in on me.

Hi mylast, no thank goodness I'm not running a fever.
And the heaviness is lessening considerably since I
first felt it when I woke up this morning. And I won't
let this interfere with my quit !
Thanks Sue.. see yours was at bedtime, mine was upon
wakening.
And yes, Josie, I see from the responses that it seems to
be a normal occurrence and if does persist I will not
hesitate to see my dr. about it.
Well due to the very high humidity, smog and heat here, I'm
definitely staying indoors and I am not cooking ! Throw
something into the micro to heat up and just stay cool :)
Probably lay down for a little nap too
:eg:
Thanks everyone.. have a great day !

Oh geez Mercy ! They (tobacco companies) put a chemical
into the cigarettes which paralyzes the lungs !?!??!?!?
That is SOOOOOOOO scary :8o:
No seriously, that is freaking me out totally !
So what you're saying is that when you stop smoking the
lungs are receiving just oxygen and they are reacting to
that and are healing ? So the heaviness is due to a
healing process.. but you say that you had this feeling
for quite a while ? Did you ever have it checked out or
did it just simply disappear ?

Well Tresa I thank you for taking the time to check
in on me .. and YES ! 3 more days and I'll have a whole
week smoke free :)
I do have to admit that I can't wrap my mind around anything
past the day I'm in.. I kind of get a little weirded out
when I do that so I just stay in the moment/day I'm in..
But, on the other hand I did think about that this morning
while I was eating breakfast ;)
You have WONDERFUL stats .. You're an incredible inspiration
to a newbie such as myself and I feel quite fortunate to have
someone like you offering up so much motivation and support !
