Mercy... you're information is having the effect on me
the same way when I saw Phil's avatar of bad lung vs.
good lung.. my jaw is now down to the floor after reading
all of the ingredients in a cigarette. What were we
thinking ? How could we have ever smoked to begin with ?
But then again, way back when (34 yrs ago for me) I doubt
that all of this information was available.
I'm feeling nauseated and getting mental images of my
lungs .. the effects of those 34 yrs damaged and sick...
I can only now hope that by quitting at this point that
my lungs will heal and become healthy and pink like in
Phil's pic.
Thank you for providing all of this information -
something I should have looked at in the morning, rather
than before I go to bed. It's unsettling for sure, but
it is also a powerful eye opener to the facts of what
cigarettes can do with all of their components.
Going to distract myself now with very pleasant things
and then off to sleep.. feeling extremely tired.
'Night night.. z z z z z z !

Mercy it is a reality check.. and a powerful one at
that. I appreciate that you posted all of those horrid
ingredients - it solidifies my resolve that smoking is
not an option !
Danielle I have an appt. next month for a full physical
and at that time I will discuss my new smoke free life
with him then.
I did NOT wake up this morning with a heavy/tight chest
today :) But with the knowledge I have gained by posting
about it I feel more relaxed that other's have experienced
the same thing. On top of that I would never let anything
go on too long without seeking medical attention.
Once again Mercy thank you for opening my eyes with your
valuable information - much appreciated !

No problem Aloha.. those pink lungs look sooo good !
Ex, sounds like you were doing better yesterday ..
you made just a little noise - But if things get tough
let 'er rip hon ! LOL !
Outside of the primal yells, screams .. I find myself
doing a lot of sighhhhhhhhhhingggggggggg ..... It also
helps. I figure it this way do what is ever necessary
to make you feel better. One of the best things for me
when I get antsy/anxious/stressed/craves etc. is to go
for a brisk walk. Doesn't even have to be a long walk -
just get out of my environment and walk off the nervous
energy :)

Hi mamakitty ! Nice to meet you :)
Yes, I see from my readings here and throughout other
sites, that there are number of things, like the dry eyes,
dry throat etc which may occur after quitting. I guess
from what we've done to our bodies over the many years of
smoking it's only natural that we'll be experiencing many
things as we heal.
I love your pic.. is it you at a very young age ? :)
Btw you are doing beautifully.. love your stats !
HI EX ! Hell week is over for you ! WOO HOO !
I'm so happy for you :)
I've not heard of the 'quitter's flu'.. yet again I learn
about the healing process. Sure hope you are feeling
better very soon :)
I'm doing well ! The worse time of day for me comes first
thing in the morning upon wakening.. instant trigger for a
smoke and the next time is right after dinner. I keep my
coping tools close by and I instantly do something to distract
myself for at least a 1/2 hour and then the trigger/crave
dies ! SQUASH THAT NICODEMON DOWN DOWN DOWN :eg:
Just finished my early dinner and this is my distraction
today - to come here, read, respond and read some more ;)
Have a super evening everyone !

As I go along I've been learning very quickly what my
triggers are -
As soon as I wake up in the morning, doing
that 'ritual' thing.. have breakfast and then light up.
Right after dinner.. yet another 'ritual' thing,,,
light up.
These are the two really bad times for me. I have other
little triggers that I simply ignore the small cravings,
but with the above two they come hard and strong !
I'm now very well prepared for these two triggers.. I have
a whole arsenal of coping methods in place :
- go do chores.. dishes, vacuum, dust, dishes
- go out for a brisk walk
- throw in a dvd
- grab a handful of carrots, celery sticks
- play music and dance around like a fool .. LOL !
- call a friend (and don't talk about not smoking)
- come here, read, respond, read more !
I have to say though.. the early morning and then after
dinner are very very tough on me and I feel totally
exhausted after taking care of them.. BUT I'm proud of
myself with the way I've been able to recognize and then
deal !

Hey Tressa ! :)
Yes I'm doing pretty good !
And yes I started the 'day' pledge.. I think I'd like
to see one everyday where member's pledge daily that
they will not smoke on THAT day. Going on the premise
that one should take this non smoking journey as
ONE DAY AT A TIME !
I just posted in Coping with cravings and what works for
me. I'm learning to identify those triggers and finding
solutions to deal with and cope with them until they just
finally subside :)
Hoping you are doing well Tresa.. You are truly my inspiration!
And yes ! Everyone is looking super fine .. wonderful stats ;)
