The "Junkie" in my head

The junkie in my head has been nattering at me all day. Just as little as 1/2 hour ago it tried to come up with a convincing reason for me to take off my patch and start smoking. It told me that since I was feeling down, a smoke would help. It told me that I could start again on Saturday(that of course would give me an extra 2 days of smoking). My junkie thought this idea was just full of possibility, I told my junkie to get stuffed!!! That has always been one of my biggest problems when quitting. I would always start again(with good reason, or so I thought), with the promise to start 2 or 3 days later. That way, I placated myself with the promise of a quit in the very near future, but during the smoking time, I had to smoke all I could because the quit was coming. Problem was, it never came. Thanks for letting me ramble on guys, it really helps. This time I WANT the quit, no matter what it takes. Quit today on 9/11

I'm doing OK, and I really love seeing 1 full day of not smoking on my quit meter! My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 50 Amount Saved: $9 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 4 Mins: 22 Seconds: 2

Hi AL, how's your first day going? I'm feeling edgy and a little miserable but I'm hangin' in there. Keeping myself busy mostly. Here's wishing you luck. Gratitude

Hey there Riverdale Man, I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to quit, grateful for my husband, my daughter, and my son. And I am grateful for my wee beagle Casey, and my wee bit bigger beagle Holly. And being as beagles have super high powered sense of smell, I think they are grateful that I don't smoke(even though I smoked outside), because they don't have to smell the smoke on me anymore. Now I can hug them without feeling guilty! Wish me luck

Al, I wish you the best of luck. I have had many attempts to quit over the summer, the best being 9 days. I have chosen my quit date as tomorrow, Mon. Sept. 11, and feel quite ready for this. So like you, here's wishing me luck, and I would love to keep tabs on your progress as well. Let me know how you are doing. All the best!!!

AAARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!

Gonnadoit, Just like you, my husband's quit came fairly easy to him. We both quit at the same time nearly two years ago, the only thing was, his quit lasted. I felt very jealous of his success, and very upset at my own. Since then, I've probably tried to quit 15 times, each with a very limited outcome. Well my quit date is Mon. Sept. 11 and I really want to be able to celebrate my success. I feel prepared, basically know what to expect, and will take each day a moment at a time. KTQ

The "Junkie" in my head

Well put Kat. I really try to steer my mind away from thinking about smoking. It helps. And I don't need to torture myself further, that's for sure. Thanks for all the great advice. A worthwhile struggle

And boy has it been a struggle today. I have been through a whole gambit of emotions. I've felt depressed, frustrated, angry...you name it. I don't know what to do with myself. I work part time and I must say that while I was at work I never once thought about smoking. But as soon as I walked in the front door - BAM - there it was again. I feel sorry for my family right now. I've been very snappy with them. I know it will get better...I just wish that miserable Nicodemon would leave me alone. Just wanted to vent! Other than that(LOL), all is well. Cheers, Jan My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 3 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 108 Amount Saved: $27 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 9 Mins: 22 Seconds: 57

Oh boy...I think I'll need to be coming here

Thanks for the advice. I'll take it a day at a time and see how I feel. The quit IS the most important thing right now.
