I hear you Sillyme. Carbs are a real downfall for a lot of us. And especially with the colder weather coming in they are a real comfort. I think I'm trying not to be too hard on myself right now, but I've done things like not bring chips etc. into the house. If they are there, I'll eat them. I've made a few pots of low fat soups because I find them comforting as well. And in a pinch, cup-a-soup is low in calories and fat. so try not to be too hard on yourself, giving up cigarettes is monumental thing, and you've done it! Cheers, Jan

Definitely feeling better this morning, even though I feel a cold coming on. Maybe its a good thing, because I don't feel like smoking. And cold or not, I'll get my beagles(affectionately called "the girls"), out for a nice long walk. That's one good thing because "the girls" keep us walking every day. Thanks for all the support! Cheers, Jan

After a break over summer, our Friday night dart league starts up tonight. I tried to keep it from my mind today, and I think I did rather a good job. I guess I'm nervous, although last year the hall was made smoke free. We had 3 smoke breaks through the course of the evening, and many smokers were just bustin' to get out the door.(I think I was one of them). Tonight will be different though, tonight I won't be going out. The smokers and non smokers are about half and half, so I'll have plenty of folks to chat with, including my husband.(he's a just over a year and a half without a cig.) Hope we win tonight and hope I can keep my mind on the dart board!!!

its later afternoon now and I felt I just needed to check in to re-affirm my non smoking lifestyle. Doing this 3 or 4 times a day really helps to keep me grounded. My kids complain now that I'm hogging the computer. Too bad, they'll survive. On my way home from grocery shopping I stopped at Tim Horton's to grab a coffee. Took it home, sat outside on the swing and drank it. That was my usual smoking spot. I didn't stay out there very long. It brought back too many memories (that sounds pathetic doesn't it, you'd think I'd lost my best friend.) Anyway, I'm finishing the last of my coffee right now, while I'm posting, and this feels much more comfortable. (Coffee tastes better, too!) The weekend is coming...ahhhhggggg. I know I'll be fine, just have to keep busy.

I made it through dart night and our team took 6 out of 9 games. I had a good night, too. People did go out to smoke and when they came back in, boy could I smell the smoke. That's something I'm not used to. When people asked me why I wasn't going out, I felt really proud to tell them why. I said I'm choosing not to smoke anymore. I don't have the right to call myself a non smoker. In fact I think the term is ex smoker. I made it through though. YEAH!!!

It baffles me. Last night I felt sooo good, and not bad this morning either. Now its afternoon and all I want to do is lay on the couch sleeping and watching tv. I have laundry to put away and I don't even want to look at it!!! This all came on so fast. I feel as though I should be doing more than I am but right now I'm feeling a little down and all I want is comfort....no housework!!!! I feel lazy but down deep I know I shouldn't. I want to feel bright and sparkling...not down and blue. However...this too, shall pass. Please let it be quick.

As I get further into my quit I am figuring out something that works for me. Ride the waves of emotion. If I feel good, I celebrate. If I feel down or sad or angry, I figure I have to really feel these emotions in order to heal. So I do what I can to take as much comfort as I can while going through this. I can't force these feelings to go away, they just will, in time. I can't force happiness, it will come, more prevalent all the time. So for the meantime, I intend to let nature take its course. Just my two cents worth. Jan
