Panic and anger?

Ashley,

I woke up feeling angry. I thought about it that entire day as to why I felt that way, I couldn't find a reason or trigger or I was avoiding the reason or trigger and didn't dig deep enough. Davit is right on about kicking the hedge apples. It truly does help although my right leg felt some cramps that evening. :)

New to the group----transitioning from one med to another

Hi, I'm a 4-5 week old newbie here and the program really helps.

New to the group----transitioning from one med to another

I've thought about this overnight and on April 30th I had another surgery to remove cancer. The following day I appeared sun burned from the neck up. I immediately called the surgeon, whom informed me to take a Benadryl. It was within 24 hours of
that, that I suffered my first full blown panic attack. I also have Generalized Anxiety Disorder since 1998. I started recalling my oldest son, took benadryl for sinuses and had an anxiety attack years ago. So, with that being said, I am off to search for any correlation/connection between the benadryl and anxiety/panic attacks.

Here is what I found online for the connection between Benadryl and anxiety/panic attacks. First the not so good.

Source(s):
Wiki. Here are some more side effects.
"This leads to profound drowsiness as a very common side-effect, along with the possibilities of motor impairment (ataxia), dry mouth and throat, flushed skin, rapid or irregular heartbeat (tachycardia), blurred vision at nearpoint owing to lack of accommodation (cycloplegia), abnormal sensitivity to bright light (photophobia), pupil dilation (mydriasis), urinary retention (ischuria), constipation, difficulty concentrating, short-term memory loss, visual disturbances, hallucinations, irritability, itchy skin, confusion, erectile dysfunction, and delirium". I don't like the sound of that.

Secondly, that some Doctors use Benadryl to treat anxiety and panic attacks. Interesting to read.

Panic and anger?

Ashley,

I'm feeling better than I did when I first joined here. I have had a change in my diet but that occurred back in the beginning of May. Today has been a good day. I'm learning one day at a time about changing my thought processes and working on the exposure. I'm doing much better and looking forward to saying I'm doing great.

Davit,

I agree, I will be cautious if I ever find the need to take another benadryl. I spoke with my daughter who has had a few anxiety attacks but it wasn't until after I did the earlier research and she said, come to think of it, they did occur after taking that or close to around that time. Maybe its something genetic in our family. The medication I'm on for Bile Salt Diarrhea has no generic form so I can relate to no substitution.

Panic and anger?

Being able to go to the amusement park. To go camping. To go to the mall and shop/look until I'm exhausted. There have been so many things I have missed out on with the avoidance I've been doing for years. Driving again will be a huge milestone, so it will be great to be able to drive myself to anywhere I want to go whenever I want to.

There is a huge Candle Shop off the highway about 40 miles away. I have even avoided going there as a passenger because the only route to it is via the highway/freeway. I have always wished I could go there and buy a scented candle. I want to be able to drive there as a passenger and finally by myself.

Getting by.

You have certainly had a profound effect on my steps towards CBT. I'm working on exposure still. I deadheaded the flowers in both flower beds today and then watered really well this evening. I am also reading an Asserting Yourself workbook which is taking up some well spent time on the sofa. :) Of course the workbook part of it means I have to do the work.

Davit,

Did you click Support Group Options to change it? I'll try to change mine that way. If my avatar is flowers it worked.

Davit, mine read, must be under 50 kb. So I chose another and got an error screen. It won't let me change my avatar neither.
