thanks splitimage... it's really no choice now, I've done everything, tried everything...  except AA.....  I will continue to go, they are REALLY nice ladies!   I bought a couple of books after the meeting,  the "Daily Reflections" and "Sober Living"   I'm looking forward to next week :)

Talking to your kids

my "children" are adults now...  they have always known about my drinking, no hiding it...  I'm ashamed of it =(

both my sons drink a lot also ,  they are aged 31 and 20 yrs.

New start

hi greyeyes...  my story is the same as yours... my husband and I are drinking buddies.  we have been together for 10 years, and all of that time has been devoted to drinking, only in the evenings, but still... we would drink a lot from pre-dinner through to 9:30pm, sometimes later.

In the last couple of weeks we have cut down a lot, I have been quite sick... I had the stomach flu, but I know that I have intestinal damage from years of drinking.  My husband has health issues (high blood pressure, etc.) from drinking and smoking for years.

It is time for us to quit, and then hopefully moderate. We have to, we have no choice now.... we are getting close to our 60's and enough is enough

jumped off

I "jumped off" the wagon last night...

I couldn't handle the cravings anymore.  I had 5 beers... I really enjoyed the inebriating effect, I was relaxed and watched TV.

I'm tired of "white knuckling" through this ....the cravings get overwhelming =[

I will not drink today, and I will continue to abstain... I plan on going to my AA meeting on tuesday.
