The Patch

Hey Beckylynn!
Remember, you decided to quit, so just stay quit one minute at a time; and don't forget your patch!!
Peteg, don't you know about some pill that can help me to remember that I must take my chantix twice daily? (lol).
Seriously, sometimes I forget to take my pm pill, but I think that I don't need it as much as the am dose. I reduced my intake to half a pill because I read that with my weight half a dose could be enough, and so far so good!
Remember to paper yourself! You deserve it!
Long hot showers or bubble baths are great rewards! Lit scented candles, listen to your favorite relasxing music, drink lots of ice water, have your hands busy, and take one craving at a time. If I can do it, I'm sure you can do it!

Stress

Hi Deb
I'm sorry you had a stressful day. You should give yourself the minutes you use to spend smoking! Use those minutes to take care of yourself! You could squeze those minutes to smoke, so now you can squeze those minutes to relax and pamper yourself: to take a really long shower, to listn to some music or to read something rally interesting.
I'm glad you are hiking tomorrow!
Take care of yourself!

Myth or Fact

I agree with you Peteg. We should considr ourselves nonsmokers; Nonsmokers will spend the rest of their lives without a single puff, so we should acomplish that. In order to become a nonsmoker, we should recognize that we didn't leave our best friend behind; we became free!! Nobody wants to be a slave, ergo we don't want to smoke for the rest of our life!

Day 3 is proving pretty rough

Hi Debby!
It's normal; everyone has had a rough Hell Week! I don't even want to remember it! I remember I was unable to focus even in the most simple activities; I was energy drained, I had an upset stomach, I was coughing a lot and even if I have a cheerful personalitiy I went completely depressed.\
But remember, you have your quit smoking toolbox . These things with help you to feel better.
I took hot showers, slept more, drank a lot of water, kept my hands busy, ate snacks, and that really helped me a lot.
I didn't aloow the cravings to make me doubt of my decision to quit smoking! I just repeated NOPE everytime a craving assaulted me.
You can imagine yourself with the flu. You feel miserable, but you know it shall pass. Remember, It really gets better!
Your body is healing. It's a     nicotine abused body trying to heal itself.
The Nicodemon wants you as its slave; you are breaking apart and it is becoming weaker! These cravings are ill attempts on its part to lure you back.
But you know better! You know there is a wonderful life after cigarrette addiction! A life free of slavery! A healthy life!
Hang on my friend! You are doing great! You deserve to be free!!!!!

evening check in

Hello Debby!
Sorry to hear that you are having a rough time! Rock has given you great advice. And work on your attitude. Be positive.
Beproud of yourself and your decision to quit. It's the only decision in your life that has no cons attached. You are giving yourself the best gift ever!
But we have to experience some days of physical and emotional discomfort. It's the price that we have to pay. And it's worth it! Remember that you are sick of being a smoker; you don't want to harm yourself anymore and you want to be free!! Selfpity is not good right now! Reward yourself because you are 3 days free.
You are almost nicotine free! So hang on Debby. Read and post, this will help too!

Frustration

Hi Kbell!
Don't feel that way! I'm a Christian too, and God gives us the strenght to carry on tasks we tought were impossible. But you have to help yourself first; the Lord will help you if you really want to do this.
You know is the best decision you can ever make. I also recommend the Allen Carr Book and also a free internet course. It hs the same principles the Allen Carr's methodology has.
Go trough my Program here, and plan ahead. Set coping mecanisms and you will be fine. This community is a great support!
Great counselors and great encouraging quit buddies!
You can do it! It's the best gift you will ever give to yourself!
Welcome
Marivi
