Headaches

Hi Deb!
My first four days were really a nightmere: headaches, lack of concentration, and zero energy! So it's normal, your body is healing; we have to pay the price for our addiction. The good news is that this is just temporary discomfort.
Imagine you caught the flu, and then after 5 days you will be nicotine free, and you will feel better.
This is not caused because we quit, this is your body screaming: I want to get rid of this poison!
So drink lots of ice water and non sugar added fruit juices; this will help to flush the nicotine from your system!
Hang on; the first four days are the worst, because we experience mental and physical discomfort!
Once you are nicotine free, the mental part of the addiction is still there.
Defeating the mental part of our addiction is a long process that requieres a lot of patience. We trained ourelves to smoke on every situation, so now, we have to deprogram our brain and return it to its original state. We were born as nonsmokers!
So Deb, cry, yell, run, sleep, eat, but DON'T SMOKE!!!!!
Hugs
Marivi

WHEN WILL THEY END!

I also experienced huge headaches. If you are a coffee ,black tea or cola drinker and you suspended it, this can make your'
headaches be more acute; If youy are uswed to drink a lot of caffeine, just lower your dose, don't suspend it; you will experience also the caffeibe whitdrawl symptoms.
Rest, take hot showers, and drink lots of ice water; most of the headaches are caused by dehidration! Take a b complex vitamin and some tylenols!

weight gain

Hi Lee!
Most of the people I know have gained weight when they quit,so you are not alone. Besides even with that weight gain you are healthier now than before! Gaining weight was a big smoking trigger for me, and I'm really mad that my previous quits were not succesful because as soon as I experienced weight gain I went back to my stinky addeict5ion.
Well this time I promessed myself not to do that. Not smoking is my frist priority right now. I gained six pound on the first week, and I felt bloated. Correction: I was bloated. I felt miserable but I promessed myself to stop smoking, so I did that.
The bloatiness has dissapeared, so now I'm feeling great and with a lot of energy. Last week I was able to run 10 miles!
I haven't been able to do that since I was 20!
Now I returned to pump some iron too, and I have a pilates routine 4 times a week. I'm limiting my carb intake but having plenty of great food! They are great sugarfree desserts so you can still enjoy the taste of it, but without the guilt!
Most of the people I know return to they normal weight and some of them even lose more, because they have more energy and spend their smoking time in working out!!
Hugs
Maribi
Congratulations! Thirty days is great!!!

You are doing great!!
The first four days are a test to your determination! But you made a free and educated choice to break free from the nasty smoking addiction! All the physical discomfort you are experiencing now is the result of years of nicotine abuse!! Your body is healing right now.
Take one craving at a time! In four days you will be nicotine free! So hang on, you can do it becaus I can do it. Drink lots of ice water and non sugar added fruit juices!
Believe me, It will get better!!!!

I'm on Chantix, but now I'm taking the regular dose for the morning, and half the dose before bedtime. I read that people that weight less than 130 can take half the dose with the same results, and so far so good! My body hasn't noticed the change in dosage.
I'm glado you found us!!

Yes - Another- Newbie!!

Hi XT!!
You have officially completed Hell Week! Now you are on Heck Week!
You are nicotine free right now! And you only have the mental addiction to nicotine and sickorettes! So hang on. I'm also experiencing the same! I feel proud of myself! I havent avoided my smoker friends; I just look at them ant say to myself: Poor friend; she is an addict and in need of a nicotine fix! I'm really happy I don't need the fix anymore!
It's all about attitude! We are not leaving our best frien behind; we are breaking apart of our worst enemy!!!! We broke free from our enslaver; the one that want's to take everything from us, even our life!!!!
Keep your quit my friend!!!! It get's really better!!!
