Passed week 1

Congratulations Debby!
You have the hardest week behind! We all know that you can do it!! Your body is in no physical need of nicotine, you have
no physical need for it.
Now it's all about the mental part of our addiction. It requieres patience . It's a challenging but empowering process.
So just fight one smoking tought at a time, and you will be fine. It get's better. The smoking toughts become less frequent and intense as time goes by.
So hang on Debby, you are doing a great job!
Hugs
Marivi

Runtrat:

I want to pledge NOPE with you too!

Maybe our IQ will come back at the six month milestone (lol). I still feel a little light headed sometimes. But it is great to be smoke free! I love the smell of my clothes and my hair!

We can do it!!

Any advice?

Citisci:

Congratulations on your decision to quit! Be positive! You don't have to fear anything; there is no downside to this decision. But you really need to quit. The quit is all about you. You have to stay posit5ive. You are not leaving a friend behind, you are breaking apart of your worst enemy. If you are running away from your slaver, shouldn't you be happy?

You have to desire to quit. You have to make a nonnegotiable decision to stop smoking. From the bottom of your heart! If we can do it, you can do it too. Must of us have gone trough failed quitting experiences. But this is a positive thing. On those previous quits we learned a lot about our own addiction. So you should be not be afraid of quitting! It's a challenging but empowering experience. And you have us. You have great counselors and great fellow quitters that had made all the difference for me! You deserve to live a smokefree life.

Like Rock, I want to recommend you the Allen Carr's book: SAtop Smoking the Easy Way. It gives you a positive approach to the quitting process.

Read and post, it helps a lot. I wasnt to share with you sdmall things that had helpede me a lot:

ice water

non sugar added fruit juices

celery and carrot sticks

straws cut the size of a cigarrette

stress ball

plenty of rest

hot showers

classical music

Enjoy the ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have to be POSITIVE

5 days now, but very hard

Congratulations!
You are kicking ash!
I didn't want to give up cofee, but I have found it less appealig after my quit. I use to drink a lot of cofee, and now I switched my addiction to cranberry-pomegranate juice! I t happened, I didn't do it on purpose.
Well you are doing great! The first week is the worst ! Believe me, it gets better!! Your smoking toughts become less intense and frequent! Sometimes you can even laugh at them! (sometimes, I repeat, lol). If we can do it you can do it!
Hugs

Remember, it is not an event;it is a process that requieres all of our patience and commitment. And be sure to quit for yourself, not because you wan to please others.
Prepare yourself, and this communit is a great aid for your quit. You have great counselors and members . Read and post as often as you need!

strange question

Gonna do it:

I also felt bloated! Actually I gained six pounds on the first week. And it was all around my tummy . I was not eating like crazy, and I gained that weight! I got really scared! I blamed it on the chantix. But then at the beginning of the third week I suddenly lost all the water, and regained my prequit weight! I was bloated!!

So hang on, and not be depressed! It is water retention! We are giving our body a shock therapy! It's healing itself!

Need Reward Ideas

Hi Runtrat!
I prefer immediate gratification! Of course you are going to have a great one year reward, but reward yourself with small things down the road.
For instance, I got a facial for my first week
a slumber party with my golfgirlfriends(yes, like kids, lol) at the 2 weeks
a short trip to santa Fe,Nm for my one month smoke free
a trip to Scottsdale,Az to a LPGA tournament for my second month smoke free(I'm hitting the road on friday evening)
If I had a really nasty smoking tought and defeated it, I would reward myself with a small piece of chocolate or a visit to a nonsmoking frien, or a long stroll with my beautiful scott terrier.
So be creative and pamper and reward yourself. It can be an extralong hot shower or a bubble bath; It can cost you zero, but you need to feel rewarded! Like kids, we need instant gratification!(lol)
