Newbies please check in :)

Hi Brat!!!
Welcome to this forum!. What a great achievement. Are you still on Champix? Maybe, you need to reinforce your mental attitude towards cigarrettes. Have you read Allen Carr's book? It's great on that part of our nasty addiction.
You miss it because you think you are missing something!! You are missing yellow teeth and fingers, smelly clothes, bad skin, bad hair, bad breath, and a tenfold increase in your chances of getting llung cancer, emphysema , and other lung diseases!  Also heart disease and shortness of breath. And this is your friend? It's not.
You are nicotine free now!!! You don't have to spend money in cancer sticks nor plan your day around your smoking; you don't get anxious when you go to a nice restaurant and finish your meal; you can even have a great after dinner conversation!
you can spend 6 hours inside a plane,a shopping mall,a non smokers house, and you feel great!!
You can go to sleep without thinking if you have enough cigarrettes for next morning!!!
Remember you left your worst enemy, not your best friend!!!
So hang on!!! YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!!!! say n.o.p.e.
Marivi

Hump Day Sucks!

Hi Impala
I'm really sorry you had such a bad day; sometimes we wake up and everything turns against us. Do you remember that Ziggy character? The one that always had a dark cloud above him? Well everybody has asuch a day; and it's alright to feel miserable, cry or yell. The good thing is that you haven't smoked!
You know that smoking will make you feel more miserable; it will only make every problem bigger. I know for sure that deep in your mind and in your heart you are sure that your quit was the best decision you have ever made for yourself!! I know that you are desperate right now, but tomorrow will be another day; lie down listen to some music and go to sleep. This shall pass too my friend..... If you can't sleep take  nyquil or tylenol pm. You have to protect your quit. You are ready to embark on your wonderful 50 day anniversary cruise; you are almost there my friend!!!
I beg you, keep your quit I'm just four days behind you and we need to stay  quit. Maybe it's our last chance.
Hugs
Marivi

I've noticed that my hands go to sleep a lot more now

Miss Marple: It's true; we are real addicts of a legal drug! . Without it we were unable to perform our daily activities. We atributted nicotine so many qualities: good for relaxing and energizing, good when laughing and good when crying; good when bored and good when busy; good when angry and good when happy!
I think we were hooked to an ilussion; nicotine just was filling a void in our innerself.
Hey CT I love the megabug!!!!

Sorry for disappearing

Hi Deb!!!
You are doing great!! I know how you feel; I felt like you the first four days. I slept most of the first two days of my quit (thank God I quit on Friday). I was energy drained; I couldn't even talk (my husband was really happy with this side effect of the quit, lol).
Hang on, you are almost nicotine free. This is the hardest week. You know that it gets better; Imagine you caught the flu;
you can't do nothing about it;just drink water and fluids and it will pass!!!!!
Hang on!!!

Triggers, desires, and thoughts

Hey Kodiak!
Everything you say it's true; The emotional cigarrettes are the hardest to avoid! I have noticed thet anxiouness is my biggest
triger. I feel almost a physical urge when I get anxious or nervous; But the good thing is that we now which triggers are the strongest, and we can have as coping strategy!
I have noticed also that my smoking toughts are less frequent and intense; I don't want to say that this has been a walk in the park(I still remember the first 20days), but I have learned a lot about my addiction; I'm not letting my guard down; I know that smoking tought can come in an unexpected time or situation!
What has really helped me is that my daily life flows around nonsmokers, so this is great! Also, I have found that excercising reduces my smoking tought in a great way.
So I'm staying positive, celebrating each day as a nonsmoker, but also I know that this is a nasty addiction, and I should be alert! I try to welcome the smioking toughts, because they give me an opportunity to retrain my smoker's brain!
You are doing great!
