Getting Ready to quit

Anxious, didn't me to scare you with the OCD reference. DL had mentioned it in an earlier post and I was just sharing that I was diagnosed with it when I was a child and have managed it fairly well as an adult. With regard to quitting smoking, some in the medical/psychiatric field say that it can make breaking the cycle a bit tougher. The statistics on the success rate just go down a little. No need to worry. We will make it. Hang tough..............Moss My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/19/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 78 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,170 Amount Saved: $263.25 Life Gained: Days: 12 Hrs: 15 Mins: 10 Seconds: 1

Anxioux1 - I think many of us with addictions have a level of OCD. So, you're in good company ;). If your OCD is bad/severe and/or debilitating/interferes with your daily functioning - then I highly recommend you speak to a professional about it - it's very treatable in therapy (with or without medication). DL - I agree with what others have expressed - you have been a strong and significant presence here for the past few weeks. You've given a lot to the SSC. When you are struggling, let us know if we can help. We're all in this thing together! Hey Moss - It's good to know that members are watching out for each other.. thanks you. I have the smallest case of OCD ( repeating words several times in my mind when I'm tired) and yes, I did see the OCD post, thanks... Hi Grin - With good people like yourself for a cheering section I know that I'll be okay... thanks. Hi DL I've been rooting for you everyday. It is good to see you this far. some days I also feel that I just don't know what to say to the new people here. i remember well how scared I was when I began this journey. I have noticed a lot of encouraging words from you for a lot of the people. you are a kind soul here. Keep up the good work. Moss PS - Did you ever run across my post About Smoking and OCD in another of your threads? Hey DL, not to worry, we all have our good days and bad days. Whether we smoke or not. So give what you can to this site and take what you need. And never hesitate to ask for help if you need it. The important thing is that you never feel alone in this journey. Hi Tresa and Anxioux1, I wish I was more uppy on certain days...especially when new folks come online and I know that they are scared and desperate for a bit of help and support like I was at the beginning of Hell Week... I come in every day but some days I can only read and then not post anything... I just slope away back to my recliner and munch over the wisdom and love of the members I've been reading for hours at a time... I know that I couldn't have got even this far without you... The champix does work great, but I think its your positive attitude that is keeping you going..your doing great, and 17 days in. I have mental blocks I am having difficulty with. Keep up the posts, I love reading what you say. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/6/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 60 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,800 Amount Saved: $225.00 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 22 Mins: 15 Seconds: 54
