My First....

SUPER!!!!! It's amazing that the ignition will start when you turn the key even without a cigarette in you mouth!?!?!?!? Major hurdle ahead

I was in a car the other day with a smoker---watch the contortions their face makes when they pull on that cigarette. I try to remember all the negative things...that morning cough; that disgusting smell; that nasty after-taste; the wrinkles around my lips; etc... Also try honesty-if it's bothering you, tell them. If it's tempting you, tell them. Last night I went to the store with the intent to buy smokes. I told the clerk, a stranger, that I was having an internal battle over smoking, that I had quit, so....give me a Dr. Pepper instead! Wouldn't you like to be a Pepper too? Sad and fed up today!

Niks: It's funny how everyone's quit is different. My husband and I have always met for lunch with a bunch of our friends at a certain restaraunt every Mon-Fri. We smoke while we solve all the problems of the world. I have had to give that up because of the temptations, while my husband doesn't seem effected by it. I stay in my office, eat my pitiful 260 calorie Healthy Choice, walk 1/2 mile to a bench along the river, meditate for a minute and walk back to my office. I miss the lunches and I am a bit lonely, but I have gotten to know myself a lot better. I've put on a few pounds, but my husband, who still attends the lunches, is really packing it on. For some reason I find that satisfying ;p My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 59 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,988 Amount Saved: $472 Life Gained: Days: 6 Hrs: 3 Mins: 35 Seconds: 49

I WILL NOT DO IT!!!!!!!

I made it through the night without smoking and my family members are all still alive. I decided I kind of like them, so I changed my mind about E-bay. Today is much better! Just a small dent in the fender-no big deal.

HELP

Glad to hear you are hanging in there. I had an awful time last night as well. Today seems much better so far. I know what you mean about feeling tired all of the time. It's like my emotions are on a roller coaster. I wish someone would develop a pill or something that can magically "cure" this addiction!

Embarrassed

I have been in the same pickle. After 40+ days I slipped and smoked 5 and then got back on track, for a week now. I have been doing real well, but stressful situations are the hardest. That's when I resort to the junkie thinking and have to fight with myself to make it through. I've been doing a lot of sleeping lately. I feel so drained... Glad you came back to us and re-joined the quit. You can do it; be strong!

I WILL NOT DO IT!!!!!!!

This is so sad....I lasted maybe 10 min. in the pool before I was so out of breath. My husband is still not home with the youngest yet, they are doing an accident report. I am going to go shower and go to bed. Tomorrow I am selling all my children and my husband on E-bay. I will, however, remain smoke-free with a permanent dent in the front left fender of my car. This is a conspiracy, isn't it? I gotta make fun, otherwise I will spend the rest of my life in tears!

I WILL NOT DO IT!!!!!!!

NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE How come I can go throughout the day, with smokers around and it does not seem to phase me a bit. When I get home the urges are sometimes overwhelming. I do not enjoy any of the things I used to. I love to cook---now you better be old enough to fend for yourself or you will starve to death here! I used to be a bit fanatical about cleaning the house. I avoid that because I associate that with smoking. Sweep and mop the floor, a smoke break; fold a couple loads of laundry, a smoke break; etc... I have a very stressful job. I have 5 kids; two still at home and the other three come and go. I have a daughter (19) that is bipolar and I have been called out twice this week by co-workers (police) because of her antics, usually involving alcohol mixed with her meds. My husband is quitting with me, but he APPEARS to be having an easier time at it, however, he has said, more than once, "let me know when you want to give this quit up." In other words, he is waiting for me to fail as an excuse to fail himself---he's a stubborn SOB. That is exactly why I did not tell him about my previous "slip". Gosh....I think I feel better telling you folks all of this trash and I saved $150 an hour in therapy!!!

I WILL NOT DO IT!!!!!!!

Uh-oh........I'm having s reallllly hard time here. It has been over a week since my "little" slip and I have been soooooooooo good and so positive about getting right back up. My cravings have been few and manageable the last few days. I don't know what happened this afternoon. Came home tired, took a nap, dreamed (lustfully I might add)about smoking a cigarette. I have been awake for about two hours now and I am having a severe internal battle with myself. I even went and searched an old pickup truck of ours that is almost never driven in hopes of finding a stale one. I am a sicko! Going to a store is beginning to cross my mind, and at times like these I am thankful that we live in a very rural part of Tennessee and it takes me 30 minutes to get to town.

I WILL NOT DO IT!!!!!!!

To add insult to injury, my husband had left during my original post to pick up our 10 year old from vacation bible school. He just called and has struck a deer in my vehicle. I NEED a little religion right now because I am about to go the #$%@ off!!! OK>>>OK>>>OK>>> Here's what I am going to do... It is about 97% right now outside. I am going to jump in our pool and start swimming laps. I'll either drown (smoke-free) or be back on in a bit!LOL Karen
