ugh... since my mother was completely grey by 35, I figured it was just genes, but my grey streaks can't be completely blamed on her, I guess. But shouldn't I be able to blame all my problems on my mother?? ;-) I feel like I'm betraying my generation *lol*

Cuddles - everyone needs help and support and you should never feel guilty about asking for it when you need it...especially in a place like this! It's the whole reason boards like this exist!!!!!
And like Legend said - you can fail as many times as you have to; you only have to succeed once. We're here for you. I've looked through this board top to bottom, every thread I could. Even if it's not the same people posting - I've noticed people mostly come and go - it doesn't have to be. The spirit of the board is to help when you need it, and celebrate when you feel like it.
So don't ever feel bad for using this place for its purpose. Keep your chin up as much as possible if you can. And I think Josie makes a good suggestion.
Hope your spirits lift a bit!!!

I've been dealing with this, too. Not necessarily depression, but some strange moods and too much energy that I don't know what to do with mixed with hours when I don't feel like moving. It's starting to pass (happening less and less), but it's disconcerting since that's not me. I do find I'm a bit angrier, though.
My mood and my attitude had such a big impact on my concious decision to lose my quit last time, that it has been my main focus for this final quit. I have no inclination to pick up a cigarette (in fact the thought makes me a little nauseous), so I'm learning to find other ways to channel my behaviour and moods.
I'm trying to find ways to deal with that and am getting help from my mother (who is an RN), a supportive friend and my pastor. It's nice to have you guys here, too, when I start to get weird!!!

I'll pass along the advice that was given to me: Worry about one thing at a time, as it sounds like you're a bit stressed. You're doing well with quitting, and you've got surgury to contend with soon. Get through that, as you probably won't be able to exercise for a bit anyway (depending on what you're in for). Once you get through that you can start to tackle the weight gain issue.
I know about hitting your all time high - I did that my freshman year of college (the freshman 50 - it was horrible). I had lost 30 of that within the next 2 years, but I was inching up the pounds just when I quit smoking, and now I think I have an explosion. I gained 4 lbs this week!!!!!! So one thing at a time. That's all you can do.
Good luck on your surgury!!!

The same thing is happening to me, although I think it's more that it was in the works before and smoking is bringing it out in the open faster.
All we do is sit around and chain-smoke on the porch. I'm realising how boring that is, and how intolerant my "friends" actually are now that I don't have the distraction and support of a cig. Used to be I would just accept whatever their opinions or thoughts were and if it made me angry, I would just light up a smoke and get over it.
Funny, now that I don't want to smoke anymore, I'm finding it hard to stomach some of their discussions. My having ambivilant feelings about my friends has very little to do with THEM (they haven't changed), but is more to do with ME and how I deal with them. I need more time to think about it and learn to deal with my own anger issues before I take on my friends, though.

Don't worry about those comments, Lightshines!!! I think you've got the right tack in using them to make you more stubborn ;-) That's what I've been doing in the face of people saying, "You quit? Yeah, right...I'll believe it when I see it." Screw 'em! We can all do this!!!!

I'm kinda with you, stickin. This is it for me. The fact that I haven't wanted a cigarette past day 3 during hell week I think is kinda telling me something.
I don't need that crap anymore. I'm done. There may be other hard days, but there's no way I'm going through this again. Stickin, I'm aiming for your stats and better!!!! :-)
