Panic Attacks

I got them before my quit and worse now in my quit and the only thing I have found that works to to close my eyes....take big deep breathes....focus on my heart and think of it slowing down and easing up and just breath, breath, breath (slow). Good luck and hang in there, it does get better with time. Words of encouragement?

I also stay home and work. It is hard. I took crave by crave, hour by hour, day by day. Clean...a lot. that seemed to help. Something about the smell of the cleaners sort of killed the crave. Do lots of laundry. Anything you can't do while you smoke. Showers, baths, work outs. Stand in front of the tv and stretch. Big,deep breathes is a great way to work through a crave and as time goes you can feel more air getting into your lungs. Good luck and keep posting. Nicotine gum and Dentures

I tried the gum once and they are right. Chew a couple of times then put it between your cheek and your gums. It will make a warm feeling but that is the nicotine going through your skin. If that don't work, then you could always cold turkey it. I tried them all, gum, patches, lozenges, pills, sprays, and even hypnitized. Nothing, so went cold turkey and not only saved money from the cigarettes but from the NRT's too. Good luck and keep posting and reading. General Tips for Handling Craves

Lets see... Walking, lots and lots of walking. Raining, snowing, wind storms.....walking. I avoid my husband when he is in a mood by walking too, just alone. Cleaning the house, all the time. Laundry, everything has been washed, twice or more. Pets, can't smoke while your wrestling with dog or loving on a cat or holding a bird. KIDS, for those who are blessed to have them, anything with the kids. Showers and bubble baths, I'm sooo pruney now. Anything you can't do while smoking. Keep on keepin' your quit Wendi My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/18/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 17 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 440 Amount Saved: $68 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 8 Mins: 33 Seconds: 55

I can't believe it!

Yeah hit smacked me across the face a little earlier. That sick feeling in my stomach, voices in my head, panic attacks, heart palpitations, and cranky moods. Did a couple laps up and down the stairs (couldn't go on my walk with the kids and baby here), and did my breathing. Got a little to cocky and he came around again....but I took care of him and all is good. For now. I must quit!

Do you really think that you would like to continue to smoke? Seriously! Think really hard. Is it you want to smoke or you are afraid to quit? Do you really want to put your baby through that? Growing up do you want the stress of wondering what you are doing to them? What if they start smoking? What about the guilt of dying young and putting them through your death? I am a mother of 2 and smoked with both of them. Bad decision! My oldest is allergic to EVERYTHING, my daughter had breathing problems from the day she was born. The really sad part, I continued to smoke! They are now 10 and almost 14. Your brain will tell you, you really don't want to quit but that is only because it is clouded with the nicotine in your system. You just don't want to go through the withdrawl symptoms. They suck....but it is worth having a healthy baby. Don't think of all the bad parts cause there really isn't any. A few days of discomfort....if your already getting sick then what's the big deal. Every time you feel a crave put your hand on your belly and know it is for the best. Good luck and hope the best for you and yours. MY LIFE IN HELL.....

I still consider myself new at this and you said to ignore you. I can't because you are reality for me. I am married to and most of the time our relationship is great but like all there are the rough times. We had a big, large fight on Christmas day of all days and I really questioned if quitting was worth it. I thought I really needed one, or a pack, or a carton. Whatever I could get. You have really inspired me that I am not alone in the thoughts and that people on here really do care. I don't really "know" anyone on here but my goodness the support I read for you inspired me to hang in there no matter what. Smoker or not (I prefer not) there will be problems in life and tragidies, but we gotta work through them so why not work through them healthy? Thank you for your insperation.
