Hey Sally -
Glad you're here. I think this whole group if filled with multiple quitters, myself included.
You know even though I don't post everyday, I am drawn to this group at my weakest moments. The other day I was out and had a craving and couldn't wait to get home to see what my 'friends were up to'. It's really cool that we're all here for each other.

Hey Sherlock -
Without trying to be harsh, if you want to smoke, smoke. If you want to quit, then quit. It's really that easy. If you fondly remember smoking as a 'pleasant experience', you'll never make it.
Smoking is disgusting and it's killing you. In the 32 years that I smoked, I never once referred to it as a 'pleasant experience'. No one here can change your attitude except you.
Good luck with whatever it is you're trying to do.

Hi 2tone -
Love your posts. You're right! Keep them feelings inside and quit being a sissy. It'll all pass, trust me. If you need a night out with the boys, go for it. Just get through this week and things will get better...
BTW - at leat you don't smell like an ashtray anymore...

I begin day 10 tomorrow. No fanfare, please. My quit is going just fine, I'm just way too moody for my own good. By nature, I'm not an emotional person. I keep my true feelings deep inside where they belong. I know that no one wants to hear my problems. I been taught that, no matter what, be strong and don't show your weaknesses.
Week two has been an emotional roller coaster for me and I hate it. One minute up, next down. No cravings, just up and down. I hate it. I'm a happy guy and I'm happy about my quit, but I'm really dragging a** this week. I'm getting a little wore down.
So everyone calls this 'heck week'? Maybe this has something to do with it. This is getting old...

Hi everyone -
It's been one 'hell of a week'. All in all, not so bad, though. I think all of you made it easy for me and I truly appreciate it.
Today was...another great day for a new non-smoker! Anyway, to sum up my 1st week: it really wasn't 'hell' week, more like 'hell' day three. Day 1 and 2 were a blur to me, day 3 was tough (definately THE hardest day withdrawal-wise), and the following days I just seem to get better everyday.
I really mean it when I say that reading and posting here has made the difference for me (except getting edited every other day :))
Tomorrow it's back to work after the long holiday vacation. I'll try to keep up with my posts, but I won't nearly have as much time.
Good luck to all of you and God bless you (will this get edited) in 2007!
Peace.

Hey Loulou -
The minutes seem like hours your first few days, don't they? It's OK, though. Enjoy the mental confusion...look at it like a 'mental break' form reality.
Do some really mindless tasks (if you can) to keep you busy. During my first few days, I cut, split and stacked nearly 3 cords of firewood, but I have to warn you, my back hasn't been right, since then :). I worked up one hell of a sweat, though.
Good luck to you. The next few days will challenge you. If you need to talk, we're here.
Peace.

We spent an awful lot of wasted time smoking huh?
-----------------------------------------------
One of the 1st things I noticed this week was how much extra time I had on my hands. First I though I was losing my mind, but it dawned on me how many smoke-breaks I used to take when I did something. Without smoke-breaks, I'm getting things done faster than ever!
I was telling a friend the other day that it seems that I 'hurried' through most of my life. I'd hurry to get something done to have a smoke. I remember when my son was born how I 'hurried' to get outside to have a smoke. Pretty sad, huh?
Now that I don't have to hurry for anything, I'm going to try to slow it down a bit this year (hey, it took me over 10 minutes to compose this post) ;)

Hi gang -
What program are you using to IM? Where do you download it? I know there's a java version but alas, I'm a Mac user and it don't work for me...I can't find tech support on this site anywhere.
Let me know...

Hi Grace -
Smoking is disgusting and it was killing me. I know if I took one filthy puff I'd be back to 2 packs a day by Wednesday. They're truly gross and, oh, I'm an addict.
Peace.
