I will just have one and throw the pack....

Tony, Try this, it works great for me. You crapped all over this craving for 8 days, take your way of quitting and add something to it. I had bad cravings for the first 5 days also. Just about 20 minutes ago, I had a pretty bad craving, I looked down at my fingers and noticed there was no more crap brown staines between my fingers. When I looked up, the craving was gone. Screw with the cravings. Talk to it, sware at it, get pissed off! Use your 5 senses to control it. When you smell someone smoking, dont say. " that smells so good, blow some this way" Instead, grind your teeth, spit on the ground! When you get that craving, laugh at it, its a joke, laugh at it like it laughed at you for how many years. When you see a but onthe ground, dont pick it up, flip it the bird and then blow it a kiss! Hey, it all a mind game and it works for me! You control it! Dont let it control you like it did for years, its your turn buddy! !!!! A Non-Smoker???

Perhaps this may be premature, perhaps not! In any case, due to the success of my quit, I can honestly and comfortably call my self a non-smoker. For the past 28 years I have sucked on theses disgusting things, the addiction is just that, yet, its an addiction that I believe will never totally go away. It gets better, but it will never totally leave my brain. I put it there and it wont leave because I told it to. That's ok, I have a great handle on it though, I sincerely believe that I have beaten its grip, beat it to where I can manage it and control it. I am finally free, free to breath, to run, to live my life without being attached to this horrible, lifeless piece of garbage! I am confident that I will never let it stand between me and my ways of thinking nor my ways of living. I will never again let it control my life!! Never again will it stand between me and my children, no more will I put my family in jeopardy from second hand smoke. It was a hard quit, I can not deny that. I suffered from its claws, the ones that wanted to pull me back in. I never let it get the best of me though; I fought a hard fight and I WON, for now and for ever! I have re-adjusted some of my life style to include, limiting my trigger points, keeping a positive attitude and walking away from situations I cant change! Thus, I dont smoke to satisfy my stress! I Dont smoke when I get pissed off. Along the way, people tried to shoot my quit down, surprisingly, by people that I trusted and thought highly of, colleagues if you will. I got words from one person who said, Jim, you will never last out the week One person tried handing me a cig every time he saw me. But I hung in there, never once did I fall to there temptation. I will remember these people, I will indeed. For when they try to quit there addiction, I will help them in any way I can. I will give them support. I will help them with there craving, I will see to it that they do not falter. And should they fall, I will not pick them up; instead, I will catch them before they hit the ground like so many of you did for me! So, to all of you who helped me win back my life, who made me see that I have a choice, who cared when others didnt, who supported me through words of wisdom, words of kindness, words of la

And there it was in my lap

Dune, Dune, Dune, Is not "I distinctly recall saying to myself "not yet" ITS, NEVER AGAIN!! Its " I DONT NEED THIS CRAP" Its "I HATE YOU AND WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO MY LIFE AND THE LIVES OF MY LOVED ONES" You have no options, you control IT! You make the choices, it dont make them for you! You let this in your brain years ago, it's yours. The craving is yours, you control it!! You decide when it should go away, you decide what to do with it in the same way you decide what route to take to your inlaws! YOU MAKE THE RULES!!! NOT IT! It dont have a brain, you do! When the craving and its components start to apear, you decide how you want it to go away! For me, its a matter of telling it, "hey, no more will you hurt me or my family, take a hike but come back soon so I can dump your ash again" Sory to be so graphic, but it dont care about you! Going nuts.

It already did stop! Now take that deep breath, get mad at the crave AND BEAT IT! Convince yourself that the crave is NOTHING! Keep busy! It will go away. It will also come back, but deal with it and be strong when you deal with it. Its just in your mind! Now tell yourself that it is not there, it cant be there because you dont smoke any more! GOOD FOR YOU! YOU QUIT, and keep telling your self that! You will be ok!!! it's been a bad few days..trying to cope

Monica, Iam reading this stuff and I am flipping out! What a grip this has on people, me to! But you wanna know something Monica. I Talked to a lot of professionals and even people who have quit for over 20 years. This whole addiction will not totally go away. But it can be controled and for most part, it sounds like you are doing it. Rusty had a great idea, try something new. Change your techniques perhaps. Fool your self a bit. This whole addiction is all about mind. For me, I am trying to fool my addiction, getting to know what it likes and what it hates. It might not make sense to you, but it does to me. Some times when it gets bad, I just make a tight fist and I clinch my teeth. It goes away. Then I smile and move forward. More importantly, I dont let it change my mind, i dont give in to it. I keep telling myself that I hate this addiction and what it did to me. I might say this 50 times in 1 hour. Well, try it, to me its a mind game. Who knows, it might work for you. A Non-Smoker???

Hello 2s2s, Thanks for your kind words. Just so you know, not many like to see others succeed. Its human nature. Especially if they are are trying to succeed at the same thing. But that shouldnt matter, no need to get angry. You just need to be the bigger person. For many years I was shunted by the ones that didnt smoke, didnt bother me in the least. If they couldnt take me for who I am/was, then they probably wouldnt be worth much to me anyway. As I move forward with my new outlook on life, I hope I dont shunt people who smoke, in fact, I know I wont. I cant be like that. And if people try to ruin your quit, do what I did, just smile and say, " sorry, it wont work" lol. And as soon as they turn there back, flip them the bird! lol Good luck, you will succeed and you will be happy. Just have faith! Jim

Hello All!!!

Danielle, You have no idea what this feels like! I mean, why is it illegal to use cocane and not tabaco? They both are addicting and they both kill! I dont get it. Why does our governments allow tabaco use if they know it kills just like illicit drugs? This is the point that I am trying to convey to my congressman. Yet they could care less! They except money from the tabaco companys for there political campaign, yet they know that it is wrong. OMG! What hypocrites! They pass laws that forbid smoking in buildings and even now, in cars and in the homes of foster parents. Again, yet they wont face the fact that tobaco kills just like cocane and other street drugs. WHF! Go figure!
