I am happy to hear that you are going to the Y tomorrow and getting back on track. I joined the Y 2 weeks ago and have started water exercise and swimming and I love it.
Lance: I agree with Rebbie I don't think your should read or post this email any more. I don't think it is helping you or anyone else. I would take it a step further and print it shred it or burn it and delete it from my computer, unless you really feel you need to save it because it is making you feel better. I would also try to put my energy into working the program here and consider doing some grief work. There are many books on the subject and a module in the program here on grief. In regards to starting to smoke and drink again being that you go to AA you might want to remember the Serenity Prayer and remember that you can not use someones elses behavior as a reason to drink or smoke anymore. You might want to consider writing an apology letter to your son and your family for yourself and mail it to them if you like, expecting nothing in return and to make amends. You are not alone in this you have AA, the sister sites here for addiction and panic and all of us here who have been supportive, so you are really very lucky. These are suggestion only and things I have tried myself that have helped me deal with my issues. You can take what you want from these suggestions and use any of them that you think might be helpful.
Remember One Day At A Time. Take baby steps but keep moving forward.
Good !!! Good!!! Sing your heat out and be happy. I used to love to sing when I was a kid with my dad and I still break out in song quite often. Thinking of you singing makes me feel good. You go for it girl.
Since I have just started working the program I feel this would be a great opportunity for me to get the most benefit out of the program and give me a opportunity to give and receive feed back and support from my fellow members and the Educators running and moderating the Group Program Walkthroughs.
I commit to try to complete one session per week and to participate in the weekly discussions to the best of my ability.
I am sorry to hear you are having such a hard time. I really wish I could make this all go away for you. I know financial difficulties can really take a tole on a relationship. I will be here to listen to you and support you in any decision you make.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Good news on the B12 shots. I had low b12 also had shots for about a year. The shots helped with the thinking and I am now off the the shots and doing sublingual b12 tabs under the tongue when I feel I need them. I also started taking Centrum Silver a multivitamin/multimineral supplement for the last month and it has helped me a great deal with energy, leg cramps and I seem to be able to think more clearly. I never really liked vitamins but these ones really seem to help me. Just though I'd let you know about them in case you want to give them a try down the road. I find that this growing older gracefully can be a real challenge. Good Luck with the vitamin therapy. Keep us posted on how it works out.
I found this session very informative. It really opened up my eyes to the causes of depression and I feel CBT is the key to me getting well. I am very excited about the prospect of not having depression control my life and feel there is real hope for me.
I feel it would be a lot easier for me to stay focused and movitated on the program if we could stay on topic and address issues that are off topic by starting another thread or going to one of the sister sites for smoking related issues or drinking issues or addiction issue etc where they can better address those specific issues. I am not sure how I feel about 2 pages a day at this time. I had planned on joining the group once weekly to review and discuss the session we had just completed. I think I will need 2 wks to get used to working on my goals. I do not have a definite time set for the amount of time it will take me to complete each session. I am willing to join the group and discuss the topic once a week at the minimum ,or more if I am in town where I have access to my computer and can get on line.
