Congratulations on the new job a major achievement. I am so happy your doing well today and had a nice time with your family. Fixing your living environment is well worth the work and effort. I had mine done and it was really made a difference in my life and the way I feel. You go girl !!! Your on your way!!!
I do not feel my depression is my fault. I was ignorant about this illness and didn't have the understanding or tools to help myself. This program has given me a new understanding about my illness and the tools to change my way of thinking and dig myself out of the pit. I wish I had this information & tools 35 yrs ago but I have it now and I wish everyone had this info. I will not do the should of, could of, would of ,thing to myself because I can not do anything about the past. I chose to move forward with my life and have hope for the future with the help of this program. Thats my take on this.
I am so glad that you brought up this topic other wise I would have forgotten that I plan on buying some toys for the Toys For Tots box this year. This is a program run here in the states by the Marine Corp. where you can buy and donate new toys to families in need at Christmas time so that they can have gifts for their children at Christmas. Their are large boxes you can put the toys in at various stores like Walmart. I did this one year and this brought me more joy than anything else I have ever done at Christmas. It is a definitely a win win feel good thing to do at Christmas.
I found this to be a very interesting article on support groups and their are many subtopic articles which I plan on reading later. I saved it under favorites. I do agree that support groups are beneficial. I do agree the group needs a facilitator and the group also needs a mediator to keep the group on track which is crucial and very hard to achieve on line. I do agree that it is important that you get in a group that is not just a grip session and is going in a positive direction other wise the group could hurt you instead of help you. I think it is also important to have educational material and tools such as this support group has which I don't think they mentioned which gives the members a topic to focus on and discuss. I have thought about looking for a outside live group but I have trouble leaving my house and I find it easier for me to do this on line group. I also do not think that I would get all the info and tools to help me get well in a live group that I get here. Anyway thats my take. Whats yours??? back to my reading now.
I am so happy for you that your daughter called and that you can relate to her being 17 and having ups and downs. Having this knowledge and experience will really help you relate to her. I am glad your doing the job thing. It really sounds like all your hard work on yourself is starting to pay off and things are starting to go your way. Congratulations
Sorry if I offended you Pete, I was just trying to find some cheer in the holidays. I too have a hard time being positive and getting through the holidays. My husband passed away 6 yrs ago my parents have both passed and the kid is off and grow up and living his own life with his family and has been for 15 yrs now. My partners parents are both gone also and his kids are also off and grow up living their lives also. We have each other to spend the holidays with, just the 2 of us now and getting through the holidays is very tough for us. It will never be the way it used to be. I am still going to try and look for some happiness and cheer in holidays and try to fight this depression. I am not willing to give up yet.
