Can't stop eating

No, no more issues than anyone else. I'm a big guy, 6'3", with a family history of obesity. By the way, in my original post I noted that I am walking 3 miles a day, for an hour a day, from 11am to noon, so during the hottest time of day too. So walking in the evening is out, I am just way too tired. I suppose I need to chop up some veggies and fruit and stay away from the junk food. I mean, its just common sense, I was just wanting to see if I'm the only one still having these strong cravings after 47 days. One would think they would subside a bit. Can't stop eating

All very good idea's, thank you for your thoughts. I did a chicken salad today for lunch, so we'll see how it goes tonight. I think I'll stop and get some baby carrots, and maybe some peaches, they sound good for some reason. Anyway, thank you for your idea's.

Wow, all great advice. I guess I'm not the only one fighting this. Thanks everyone.

Is it normal to still crave?

I have been smoke free for 52 days now. I quit cold turkey, but I now find myself wanting a cigarette more and more as the days go by. I know it has to be in my head, but I do feel withdrawl symptoms, like hot flashes throughout my body, sweating. Am I still having withdrawl after 52 days? Help, the "bad me" wants a smoke. I keep trying to remind myself of all the money I'm saving, and of how much more healthy I'll be not smoking. But there is a part of me that doesn't care. Is it normal to still crave?

There really doesn't seem to be any one single trigger. The only thing I can feel is that a part of me insists that smoking is as much a part of me as I am to it. I was the only child my mom smoked with when she was pregnant, and I am the only one out of 3 who grew up to smoke. It's who I am, how do you just throw yourself away and start over? Sorry, I'm getting off topic and rambling. This battle is just so complex, it's like I'm fighting enemies on many different levels all at once, then they retreat, and then once again they launch an attack. It is just never ending and tiresome. I wonder if my will is strong enough sometimes. I was hoping after so long, that it would be easier, but I guess nothing worth having is easy. Ok, I'll stop whining now. I feel a little better already.

Wow tryagain, I admire your will to fight. Thank you for sharing, your thoughts have inspired me to continue the fight as well. My Mileage Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,518 Amount Saved: $499.20 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 14 Mins: 35 Seconds: 28

Is it normal to still crave?

I guess I need to stop thinking of myself as being "born to smoke". I have been finding myself saying things like, "I'm tired of wanting", and "I'm tired of being a quitter" lately. It's almost like I'm trying to talk myself into smoking one, and letting everyone around me know its coming, so when I let them down I do it easily. I know it's a very self defeating attitude, but I have always been that way with myself. It was the only pleasure I got out of life, and its gone. It doesn't have to be gone, so why do I suffer and deprive myself? I need to remember why I quit, I need to remember day one. This sucks...why can't it just go away!!

Is it normal to still crave?

I know and thank you Anna, it is hard to believe such a suttle feeling can cause such termoil in ones life. I'm hanging on, no worries yet, but I know when I start talking that way what happens. I've quit too many times in the past 3 years. But this time I'll try and put a stop to it. My excuse today is my girlfriend dumped me, one of my main reasons for not smoking was her and her kids. So I'm telling myself, hey why not, I deserve it...LOL BUT I WON'T, I WILL STAY STRONG.

Lainey, thank you, what an interesting perspective on the "quit". I was laughing as I read it, only because I couldn't figure out where I'm at in those stages. I think I may be bouncing back and forth between 2 of them...if thats possible.

Is it normal to still crave?

I sometimes wish non-smokers could experience what we have gone through for just one day. I can guarantee there would be no more laughing. 500 years from now, what we are all going through will be considered one of the most horrendous crimes against humanity there ever was, all for a profit. Hang in there tryagain, I understand where your coming from. Just beat it one crave at a time and know your doing yourself justice.
