I noticed yesterday that whenever I have that spilt-second thought of a smoke I automatically take a deep breath and it goes away. It's nothing that I trained myself to do, it's just how my brain is coping. Works nicely. On occasion the thought will linger a little longer and THEN I'll consciously take a few extra deep breaths.

One drag is too many and a thousand, not enough.
desert_girl,
I know it's hard not to beat yourself up, but try to be done with your beating quickly and then live in the solution - resuming your quit.
Thanks for the R&D by the way. I need to be reminded that no matter how much quit-time we have, we are all the same distance away from smoking.
Thank God that the door swings both ways here at SSC and that you're back.

The door swings both ways. Glad you made it back through.
There must be a lot of people who don't. I'm inclined to believe these are mostly people who let go of their support groups.

Welcome CMR and poprocks! This is really a great place to be!
I find it very helpful because I can come here, read posts and forget all about my urge to smoke or even that I'm fighting a battle!
I hope you two find it just as valuable.

40, too
Whatever the reason, you're "doinit"!
I think newbies are the most important people here. I need to be reminded of where I came from and I need to share my toolbox to help me remember what's in it :)
Congrats on your new quit! Stick around and visit often.

This is my first PMS smoke-free and it's just like being at day 6 all over again (w/ bad PMS). The good thing is that I have more practice in not smoking than I did on day 6. I'm none too cozy inside right now, though.
Sleeping well has been difficult. Either I wake up several times having to pee or I wake up and stay wake because I've broken out with itchy hives over my achilles tendons. Depends on how much water I've had to drink that day.
Back to firsts - I felt really strange the first time I went somewhere with my husband, too. We used to go places and sit in the car and smoke before we went in. We called it the "Car Party". No more car parties, or maybe we could think of something else to do......
Firsts are really something. My brain takes note of those things and tells me what I am supposed to be doing and then I have to say to myself "no, I need to do something else." I think that a lot. That will get less frequent.
Just needed to post - needed a meeting.

Just for today I'm smoke-free.
