Accomplishments and other Postive Things

Hi ~m,

I am not really gone..I have just decided to work on my core beliefs in the depression center for the time being..
I read a response to something you posted from the new Educator Vincenza and she mentioned that working on your core beliefs in the depression center might.be of help. I started in the depression before I came here to the panic center but never really worked on my core beliefs while I was there..Davit has mentioned core beliefs as being the root of the problem on several occasions here in the forum..So I decided that maybe I was strong enough now to start working on my core beliefs...
Anyway if you don't see me here you'll probably find me over in the depression center reading and working on the program there...

Your friend,
Sid.
p.s. I decided to start using my real name Sid now...

Accomplishments and other Postive Things

Hi everyone!!

Just checking in...

You are so right Davit when say I am not lost..I have not gone over to the dark side..I am enlightening myself, "LOL" thats a play on words, with new ideas and concepts..I am finding the information on the sister site about Core Beliefs very interesting and helpful..I am learning how to identified my negative core beliefs so that I can begin to challenge and change them..

I was already doing this to some degree here using the 10 question list..Now I am taking it quite a few steps further..and for someone with anxiety issues this is a big step. I am not afraid to learn more..I am actually looking forward to it..

When I went left my house and went to my first class in over 20 years I was working on my negative core beliefs without really knowing it. I thought I would never fit in and that I would not be able to learn how to quilt..But I proved my self wrong I was able to do all those things and more...
Today I challenged my negative core belief that I am stupid and could not write the English language in a way that was understandable and readable..and I learned that it doesn't have to be perfect to be good. I am really very good at expressing my thoughts and getting my point across..It does not have to be done with perfect grammar to be meaningful..or make sense, it just has to come from the Heart. This is a language most people understand...

After working on My Core beliefs today I see that I have got a lot of work to do on how I see myself and the world and the other people it...I do not have to go and hide under a rock somewhere anymore because I am not perfect..I do not have to be perfect anymore and neither does anyone else...

Tell next time.
Your friend,
Sid

My Fears & Anxious Thoughts...

My feeling now almost 2 weeks later. This morning I am thinking about my negative core beliefs and I have many. The one that is on my mind this morning is "I'm invisible". This one goes back a long way...and for some reason it seems to be rearing its ugly head this morning..Something my have triggered it. I am still here reading even though I am not posting as much.. Sid/Red Ps. The reason I changed me name is because I removed my old account and had to register and couldn't use my old name..

My Fears & Anxious Thoughts...

Thanks ~m  for posting.
Its comforting to know that I am not the only one who feels this way...and your response to me helps and makes me feel less invisible.
Hopefully we both get this sorted out soon..

Accomplishments and other Postive Things

Hugs,

No not really, it may have brought it to the surface though..

I am now aware of it and am dealing with this negative core belief of mine.

I am learning how to challenge and change my negative core beliefs and turn them into positives now...

It doesn't happen overnight..Its going to take work and it is something I am going to need to be aware of.

My Fears & Anxious Thoughts...

Hugs4u,

This feeling I have of being "invisible" is very personal not something I feeling comfortable describing here in the forum..

What I can tell you is this feeling is connected to one of my negative core beliefs..

I learned in the sister site when studying negative core beliefs that there is not one single definition for these feeling, just like the thought of being unlovable for example..It is a persons personal definition that really matters...When dealing with your own negative core beliefs they are your own beliefs and assumptions only. You own them, they belong to you..

Once you identify them and there meaning to you than you can begin to challenge them one by one and replace them with positive thoughts about yourself, the world and the people in it....

I hope this answers your questions? If you have anymore questions about Core Beliefs you can find the answers in the sister site "The Depression Center"..Its listed under Core Beliefs in the toolbox sessions....You will find a more detailed explanation there..

Talking Assertively

I have something I want to say in assertive way..I was composing a post for the thread your panic cycle and by the time I edited it so that is was easier to read and put in paragraphs and sequenced it all out, I was logged out because it took too much time for me to do this...I do not know how to cut and paste and then post to the forum..Is it ok for me to just post without doing all this to my posts before I post them????...I had something I really wanted to talk about today..

Coping strategies

I used a coping strategy called distraction that Davit and Sunny talked about here on the forum and it worked for me..

I used distraction to help me when dealing with my panic and when doing exposure...

I was inside a large mega store getting ready to pick up some glasses. When I became overwhelmed and went into a high adrenalin state due to the fact that I was in the store and would have to deal with the personal and later a problem with my glasses being chipped..I walked around the store and let myself relax looking at things on the shelf until I could get my breathing slowed down and my blood pressure down..Than I went and talked to the personal and picked up my glasses. I went outside and discovered the lenses were chipped..I got upset and walked around outside till I could calm down again and went back inside and talked to the personal again..This is my third time at having these glasses redone..They say the third times a charm..They also say if you repeat a exposure repeatedly it gets easier and easier with time..I guess I will find out in another 7 to 10 days when I get to do it all over again..I will be going into to talk to the manager tomorrow or the next day to addresses the problems I am having with there service and products..
I had another post written up on this subject which was all edited and sequenced out, which was easier to read, showing all the steps that are involved in doing a exposure exercise for me beginning with the phone ringing and leaving the house to completion of the exposure..I couldn't edit it fast enough and got logged out..I don't know how to cut and paste so this version will have to do...I really wanted to show the steps involved in overcoming panic and doing exposure work..I guess that will have to wait for another time...

I have a question for everyone..I was wondering if anyone else uses coping strategies and if so what they are???

Sid.....
