Hi Susie Q,
When you said "that has made me even more anxious about being anxious (if that makes sense)", I nodded my head vigorously!  I think that many of us who have anxiety issues can related to this exact thing.  
I have found this program is so helpful for that exact thing because it helps us realize that it's often our negative thoughts that can trigger anxiety attacks, so if we challenge our thinking, we can help ourselves minimize those anxious moments.
Living without the anxiety is a very attainable goal.  Keep at it and it gets easier and easier.

Davit,
Thanks for opening up like that.  Your post is incredibly inspirational.  
I especially liked how you concluded it...your last paragraph is so well put and I can echo your sentiments. 
It is that "simple" (it just takes a LOT of hard work to get there).  But, when we can "replace all that negative thought with positive", as you put it, it is amazing how our coping skills change.  I also like how you suggested not putting a time limit on it.  I have also found that taking it a step at a time, day by day, has helped immensely.  I look back to where I was 2 years ago and where I am today and I see a huge difference (although there were so many days that it didn't look like it was getting better).
 
I think that your post will help a lot of people who are struggling with seeing that there is indeed hope.

Accomplishments and other Postive Things

I think you hit the nail on the head for me, Red, that "once you get a taste of freedom, you just want more".
It can be so fun when you feel like you have done something successful and you want that feeling to last.  I have found that over the past few months in particular, I get so excited that I'm able to do something without the degrees of panic that I used to have. Then, that feeling does indeed spread and shows up in more and more situations.

exposure work

Good job!
That one big success will surely inspire you to continue with your exposure work.  When you're feeling stressed, you can remember how successful you were and that can help you get through your exposures.
Good for you.  That is also great that you have such a supportive husband who gives you that gentle (but necessary) push.

Feelings of unreality

I know that feeling well, too.  It looks like all the people I pass by are almost "muted" or phantom.  And it feels like the world is all washed out and faded.  I feel really cotton-headed and of course, all of this makes me panic that much more. 
I remember one attack I had where I actually had to take some time and determine if  things around me were real or not.
It is indeed, as you put it, a "weird" sensation.
I find now that when I start to get an attack, it's that sensation that I notice first.  So, I just remind myself that everything is okay and I then search for reasons I feel that way: over-tired, stressed out, not drinking enough water, etc.  I find often, that sensation comes on when my sinuses are plugged (therefore putting pressure on my face and giving me that cotton-headed feeling, which leads to that "unreality").  When I feel like that now, I take steps to try and reverse it: relaxation, drink some water, lay down if I'm tired (and can lay down at the time), etc.  Soon, that weird feeling passes and all is good!  
I think when we get worried about that sensation, that's when we get into that panic cycle.  Remember: it's just a feeling and it will go away, we just have to wait it out.  It can't hurt us and many people feel that way from time to time.
Hang in there...it DOES get easier to manage riding out that feeling and then eventually not paying much attention to it at all.

February Ask the Expert - Hormones

OH, even before reading (I promise I will!) the article..
I know that my worst time for anxiety-related issues is just before 'that time of the month'.  I can feel myself worrying about unreasonable things and I'll even wake up in the night with strange worries that will keep me awake if I let them.  I've made the correlation and now assure myself that "it's just hormones" and that my fears are unfounded and irrational.
