Rough day yesterday

You have my sympathies, having another smoker in the house is tough, but I am sure it can be done. Thank goodness we quit together and are both committed to NOT starting ever again. (doesn't it smell stinky now that you are NOT a smoker to be around one?) Maybe something to concentrate on! HaHa!!

What Momma taught me

Suzy..hugs and sympathy to you. I have been a caregiver to my blind Mom for 8 yrs now. My husband was just diagnosed with severe COPD and I am on day 8 of no cigarettes. I was on here looking for some support, I am doing pretty good for only day 8 (not cheated once), but felt I needed some additional encouragement today..and your note just gave me that strength to keep on keeping on. I am so sorry for your loss, prayers are with you.

MMmmmmmm~~FOOD!!

'K guys, this is NOT good. Eight days into the program, no cheating (well, that part is good). but ,my gosh, food is amazing..just way too TOO amazing!! Mexican, Italian, DQ ice cream, you name it! I have spent the better part of the last week eating. I have tried walks, I have tried straw chewing, sugar free candy, keeping my hands busy, ice water..but I am still eating! What to do? This is getting scary, you can die from obesity too, ya know!! Can someone tell me if these symptoms abate a bit after the first few days, weeks, whatever?

MMmmmmmm~~FOOD!!

Thanks Den 3 pounds in 3 weeks is not bad, if that is all, then I can handle that with diet and workouts, but the way I have been eating made me feel like it might be 30 pounds in 3 months!! It's an ugly day today so I will pace the house today instead of going on a walk. Feeling like a caged jungle cat some days!! But, I am not smoking!!! 36 years of somoking and I have quit!!!! So, Lainey, you lost most of the weight? I think that is my worst fear in all of this, that I will gain 10 or 15 pounds. I know how hard those "last 10 pounds" are to lose! Buddies Needed

Jazz..you Rock!! That is fantastic! Both my husband and I quit together also, it is easier with buddies! It is an uphill battle and I keep on having faith in myself. I have chewed some nicotine gum, but pretty much cold-turkey has been our way. Funny story, last night, my husband, snuck out to the garage and lit up a cigar, "just to smell it", he said. Our dog, Blue, jumped up on the table, took it out of the ashtray and proceeded to destroy it! Guess he hates the smell of them as much as I do! I haven't cheated yet, although the temptation is stil strong. Do you EVER get over wanting a cigarette? But, wanting and actually smoking one are two different things. I have a wedding to save for next year (our daughter) and I am saving all these $$ we are no longer spending on cigs and she will have a most gorgeous wedding on the beach at sunset. Weezer, hang in there!! We can all do it if we "get by with a little help from our friends" My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 96 Amount Saved: $16.80 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 4 Mins: 22 Seconds: 25

Buddies Needed

Jazz, Blue is a black lab..with a blue tongue! Must be something about labs!! (all us Lab owners know they are the greatest, right?) Fall weddings are wonderful, the colors are just so perfect..enjoy! Thank goodness, my dearest freind is a wedding planner and she is helpng with all the arrangements!! She will also perform the ceremony. (now, if I can just talk her into quitting smoking with me)! Yikes! I'm becoming a vigilante!! Smiles ;-) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 96 Amount Saved: $16.80 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 4 Mins: 29 Seconds: 33

Tired and teary

Hey Jazz Sorry this is a sucky day for you and the nights sound worse! I am lucky that I have not had trouble sleeping at night. I am using the Nicorette gum, 2 mg, and have had no issues with sleep. Check with your Dr, maybe you could try using this of an evening? I know how hard it is, I am on week 2, but feel stronger and and proud of myself for continuing. Had a rough night last night, just lots of stress on the homefront, but made it thru without caving. I am still surprised that I have not "cheated" even once! I think it is going to work this time! It has too, we have all invested so much into this quit, no turning back now..look ahead to brighter days and sleepier nights!! Hang Tough, Jazz!!
