I think you misunderstood what I said kitkat. "I agree with you" is what I meant. That is what I meant by saying that dealing with panic and anxiety is scary and stressful, so trying the program at this point has no loss. I am at the anger point too, I just want my life back. On another note, with his point about not talking about the disorder, doesn't that lead to logging off of this group and not discussing it anymore, as he puts it "stop entering into dialogue with other people about your condition, again this will only confuse your sub-conscious mind, allowing bad habits to thrive and remain conscious." This step will be very difficult to do. It entails a lot of cut-offs for me. I will say that he needs to have someone proof read his material...there are many mistakes in the text. But that is the perfectionist in me talking :)

I think one of the key points in his program is to fill up every minute of your day. Stay occupied. Every time we have vacant time our minds tend to drift toward negative thoughts. This is soooooooo true for me. If you have competing behaviors/thoughts/activities that you exercise while in your conscious mind, it can't help but spill over into your subconscious mind. Eventually,I visualize this process as leaving NO ROOM for the negative thoughts, because I am too busy with the positive ones...sort of like sucking the breath out of them, until they simply die.

" I also agree that he makes very valid points that cannot be ignored, but they are stressful to face, but so is dealing with anxiety and panic on a daily basis" The two are interchangeable..meaning they are one in the same. FESTIVE..I KNOW exactly what you are saying. I guess I am saying that the longer I avoid the stress of facing them, the longer the stress will remain. In other words, it's my fear of fear that keeps me afraid. I think I am at a point, where my anger is greater than my fear and I will use that anger in a positive way. Does that make sense? :) :)

Ann I just sent it...to you. Susan it's a PDF file...you need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view it. Adobe acrobat reader is free Just type free Adobe Acrobat reader into a search engine and it should link you to where you can download it. Festive.. As I said, it may not be for everyone. Yes, it does require not only to face your fears, but actually stomp on them. As time goes on for me, I get more angry, than afraid. Maybe part of that anger is necessary for his method to succeed. We'll see...Stay in touch.

I agree that the "alone" aspect is the scariest thing. I also agree that he makes very valid points that cannot be ignored, but they are stressful to face, but so is dealing with anxiety and panic on a daily basis :) festivefeet <><

Hi Kitkat I seem to have received something but when I open it it asks me if I want it in spreadsheet or word processor form. I have gone for word processor and I get lots of plain pages with headings but the headings are like greek language or something. Am I not doing something correctly or are you able to forward it again. It sounds really progressive and I can't wait to see what the 9 pillars are.

Understandable that it might cause scary feelings. We all have to do what we think is best for us. However, it is IMPORTANT to point out the he only recommends working with your doctor FIRST about getting off meds. NOT that you should do it on your own.... It is, undoubtedly, a tough program. But the things he points out are pretty hard to ignore and make sense, to me, anyway. Again YOU must do what is right for you... ;) The scariest part for me is accepting that I and I alone have to do this on my own....but like he said, even the times you've had a *safe* person with you, YOU were still ultimately the one who came through it, NOT THEM.

I haven't had time to read through all of the info yet, but it is different from anything else that I have ever learned. When I read through the nine pillars some things made sense but also made me panic just thinking about doing it. Like for example: quiting my medicine, that is a very scary thought. I may try it without completely quiting my medicine and see how it works and then starting weening off of it when and if I see positive results. I just started attending a Panic/Anxiety support group that a women from my church started. It happens once a month and we have prayer and accountablity partners. Now, according to his method, this is something that I should not be participating in. Which is hard for me. I don't know, I have to read more about it and really think about it. I will say that it rose up some fear in me though. festivefeet <><
