I finally made day 30:)

I finally made it to day 30!!!! I have never made it this far before and I'm so excited. I can't say it was easy but it is getting easier. I also know not to let my guard down and pretend the cravings are all over. I have one day left on the 14mg patch and then go to 7mg. I'll most likely get cranky again but oh well considering what I've accomplished to date I'm allowed to be cranky once in awhile. I hope everyone's having a wonderful day. We're getting our share of the snow and rain in NY. Good day to relax and do nothing:) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 30 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,073 Amount Saved: $330 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 21 Mins: 56 Seconds: 43

I finally made day 30:)

Hi Kita Great for you on 25 days!!! Sounds like you could also enjoy a lazy day with all the rain. I would rather have the rain then all the snow they first forecast. Good thing we're not further north. It's nice to be lazy sometimes!!

Tomorrow is the day I hope

Welcome Scaredycat, In answer to your question "Can I really do this" YES YOU CAN!!! Since tomorrow is your quit date start by getting rid of all your ashtrays, lighters and matches. Stock up on sunflower seeds, carrots plenty of cold water mints anything to occupy your hands. Avoid things that might be a trigger or change it. Ex. caffeinated coffee, switch to tea, after meals grab some licorice twizzlers anything to start the change in a pattern that has been there for so long. Speaking for myself I was petrified to quit out of fear of the withdrawals and now I think it was more out of fear of losing something that was a part of me for 26 years. It was a crutch in so many ways but now it doesn't bother me as much. The best thing I ever did was quit smoking and it was worth the fear and the withdrawals. I've heard so many positive remarks about chantix and this group of none smokers new and experienced are all here for you so hang in there and keep us informed on how your doing especially if your having a hard time. You can do this and we can help!! Smoking: When & How Long?

I started to sneak them at the age of 12 by the time I was 16 I was smoking 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day until 21 days ago. It's been 26years of steady smoking. The love of my life died 16 years ago and he always begged me to stop smoking. This weekend I'm going to the cementary and let him know I finally quit!!! Sounds weird but I never thought I could even make it day without. No way am I going back through those withdrawals again!!! Susie144 I'm glad you shared because those challenges in life are emotionally draining and hard to deal with in general. I've been faced with a few lately and I also find it hard which is why I come on here and read and write congratulations to all of you!! Hello !

Hi Jean welcome God I love your attitude!!!!! You are a blessing and one of us non smokers. You prepared for your quit and doing all the right things. I'm glad I don't live near you with your cooking. I'm working on losing some weight. It's tough enough after 40 and harder after quitting. I always find ways to doctor up the celery sticks and carrots (cream cheese)etc... Heck I can lose the weight we cannot however lose our lungs way to go!! Hang on to that determination!!!
