Smoking: When & How Long?

17 years ago 0 2417 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Started when I was about 24. Why??? Who knows...(just smoked occasionally so I really don't count that time). Picked them up seriously when I was around 27 because my husband left me for his co worker (Thank God). So then I continued to smoke for 13 years. Told myself I had to quit when I was 40, and I did. :) p.s. I have a better husband now too! I started smoking at 16 and smoked for 36 years. I tried to quit many times but never managed for more than a few hours. I cut back many times but went back more than ever each time. When I quit this last time I was smoking at least a pack a day (25) and wouldnt go to many places because I couldnt smoke which really lessened our social life. I crushed my remaining cigarettes and threw them away and with the help of the patch and this wonderful site I have now become a very happy non smoker!!! I will help anyone who is trying to quit but I am NOT a hollier than thou quitter who makes smokers feel bad for smoking. I am right now a life line for my cousin who is going into her 5th week of not smoking and we have had some wonderful conversations while keeping her busy so she dont think about smoking. Started full time smoking when I was a5 and still at school. I smoked an average of 25 a day so thats about 27 years. I had more or less decided that I was well and truly addicted and that smoking was going to kill me. I am so happy to now be smoke free and have a new lease on life. I started at sweet 16 until now, so 37 years. You could subtract a few months here & there as I had quit several times, as much as seven months (twice), but I am a damned perfectionist so it ain"t quit till it's quit. Where did the time go??????????? :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 32 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 820 Amount Saved: $337.6 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 23 Mins: 2 Seconds: 32
