Health Educator Personalized Videos!

Davit,

1. On the forums page on the right hand side in about the middle of the page their will be icon that says launch blog in blue, right above that it says support group options click on it this is where you can change your picture.   2. If your picture is to big than you will need to go to start/ programs on your computer and look for the program for your camera and see if you can resize your picture. My sony camera has a program call picture motion browser where I found something called manipulate and a tab called resize.
I am not sure what kind of software you have or what they have titled this function.  If you play with is for a while you might find a way to resize your photo.

Fish Oil

Good morning,

I also starting taking fish oil again 1000 mg daily for the inflammatory benefits to help with ulcerative colitis and also to help with my high triglycerides and inflammation in my arteries plus  my depression and anxiety.  I have only been back on for 2 wks and am seeing a benefit with my inflammation and depression.  I also have been taking a multivitamin/multi mineral supplement Centrum silver for a few months now and seem to have more energy and am able to think much more clearly.  I take B-12 500 mcg sublingual dots if I am exceptionally tired as needed.  I used to get  b-12 injections once a month but  when  I got my levels  back up I changed to the sublingual dots tabs which are easier for the body to absorb and recommended by my Dr.  I never thought much about taking supplements but how found that they help me much more than traditional medicine or drugs Rx's  and without all the side effects.

Fish Oil

Correction to my previous post.  I meant to say anti inflammatory benefits instead of inflammatory.  I guess I need to take my B-12 today to help my think straight.  lol lol  :):):)

HOW I HELPED MYSELF

Davit,

I do find what you say about triggers very interesting.  Being that I have some ptsd their are lots of things that trigger my anxiety and cause my adrenaline to take off like a rocket and bring back bad memories.  It can be overwhelming at times to say the least. Being that I took care of a my husband 24 hrs a day with ptsd related to his combat in Vietnam which later developed into frontal temporal lobe dementia. I witnesses and felt his fear 24 hrs a day for at least 4 yrs and it was my sole responsibility to take care of him and try to ease his fears until he passed away.  It has taken me a long to get to where hearing a chopper over head doesn't set me off and make me relive the fear all over again.  I am just beginning to feel like I am not in Saigon anymore. We were together for 27 yrs.  I was also a victim of a violent crime and have witnessed  a violent crime before we met.  So I have lots of issues and things that trigger my anxiety and agoraphobia. I am not sure if this stuff will ever go away but it is getting better.  I guess what I am getting at or trying to say is that we are all different and have had different experiences and  even though I agree that diet and exercise are great and do make me feel better I think it is going to take a long time for me personally to heal and get better.   I do feel with Gods help, this program and the support of people here on the program and of course my willingness to work the program at my own pace,  I do have chance of getting well and leading a happy, healthy and fulfilling life.   Yes I too have been hiding but I am slowly coming out of shell and I too may disappear for a little while in the spring to work in my garden and rest my soul.   This exposure work can be very tiring.

HOW I HELPED MYSELF

Davit,

I was not in Saigon literally.  I took care of my husband who was there for 3 tours and I experienced his fear while taking care of him by myself 24 hrs a day it is kind of like transference.  You take care of this persons every need you touch them and you feel what they feel, you look at them and see their fear. They tell you about what happened in war, they are later scared to death when a chopper flies over head at night and you are also scared you are scared for them and for yourself.   They are still in Saigon and so are you.   There are never any happy or funny memories about helicopters or combat.  It is just to hard for me explain you had to be there and I am so glad you were not.  I do not want to take you there.  These are my demons to face not yours or anybody elses.
Anyway on a happier note I have been replacing the bad pictures memories in my mind with beautiful pictures and memories.  My partner takes these pictures for me my while we are out on our trips.  You were talking about the pink sunrise today.  Your might like to take look at my new picture of a sunrise I posted.  This is one of my beautiful memories and pictures I now have in my mind.   I wanted to share this picture with everyone.  This is my form of mediation.  I hope you enjoy it and find some peace in this sunset.

Being outdoors

I have had a pretty good week so far.  I was able to get outdoors in the sun and work in my yard.  Gardening is something I really enjoy .   I think I am beginning to learn how to control my anxious thoughts and not let them consume  me or keep  me traped in the house.   I am learning how to enjoy my life again.   I am also learning how to listen to my body and stop and rest when I need to.  I have exercise hypertension and if I just let myself stop and rest I can still enjoy doing some of the things I used to love doing.  Anyway the yard is all mowed and trimmed and looking good.  The hard part is done and I can now enjoy working in my flower beds, feeding my birds and listening to my fountain on the patio weather permitting.

Hello to all

Fran,

Welcome to the group.  I have read your post here and your post about mornings.  I find your ideas very refreshing and helpful.   I tried your technique for getting to sleep and I got a very good nights sleep last night.  I really like your way of making lists of positive things to tell you mind.   I am looking forward to reading more of your posts.  I am sure there is much I can learn from you.  I am so glad you are here with us and that we can all help each other on this journey.

Being outdoors

 Samantha,

I want to thank you for showing a interest in my progress.  I know my goals are small in comparison to others, but you have  to learn how to crawl before you can walk. That being said I am very happy with  my progress. In answer to the questions in your post.  I would really like to get outdoors doors more and that is one of my goals.   I really do love being outdoors in nature.  I always was a outside type of person and never liked being couped up in the house.  When I am out working in the yard my anxiety goes away and my mood greatly improves and I am never depressed.  All the plants are beautiful and alive and the birds are singing and it really makes me appreciate being alive.
It was raining all day here today but I was able to get outside in between down pours and I am really grateful for that.  I have a covered patio so I can go outside rain or shine and I also have a outside propane heater.  It really was wonderful sitting outside today watching and listening to the rain.   It was a really good day today.

Hello

HI Doreen,

Welcome to forum.

You have come to the right place. This is a really good program and a very friendly group.  The Educators will step in with help and advice if you ask questions.
I would start off by reading some of the sessions and you will soon begin to understand your condition and be given the tools to help you get started.  Their will be homework and I am not going to say getting better is not going to be work and a little tiring.  Once I began to understand what was wrong with me and that I was not the only one with this problem, I began to feel better. Once I learned how to help myself get better I started to feel better about myself.  Remember to take your time working the sessions and go easy on yourself.   We will all be listening and we really do care about each here.
