Question - Any Writers out there?

I write as well Anatis, and don't know yet if it will happen to me, but if I do go blank, like when writers block comes on, I do a chain of thought, writing anything and everything in my head, kind of like this message, with nothing but commas separating the thoughts, and purple giraffes and blue trees when the sun shines down on the... Oh. Got a bit carried away there! ;) Hope that helps you?! Quitting

I just quit today, Maggie, with the same thoughts as you. I twice woke up thinking 'why not today?' and ended up suspecting if I pre-empted my quit date I may be open to an excuse! Crazy I know but I quit when I said I would and feel unbelievably strong today. Wishing you all the best in your ash-kicking!

Tra la la boom dee ay, I really quit today!

Hi all, Todash here. My last smoke ever was 3 am, it tasted like crap and I woke up really excited. Who'd a thunk it? Sorry I was AWOL yesterday, felt like I was about to jump out of my skin and absolutely exhausted - typing was NOT an option! These are all great, I keep trying to come up with more - got one today, was practically singing out loud during my 2 mile walk to the train - 'Don't Stop Til You Get Enough' only change the lyrics around to 'Don't Stop Til You Give It Up!' Couldn't stop grinning like an ijit! ;) Keep 'em coming, let's fill this Reformed Junkie Jukebox! This one's for Becky, when you feel like the only person in the world going through this. This community is an absolute godsend. Welcome and hang in there! 'You'll Never Walk Alone' When you walk through a storm Hold your chin up high And don't be afraid of the dark. At the end of a storm Is a golden sky And the sweet, silver song of a lark. Walk on, through the wind, Walk on, through the rain, Though your dreams be tossed and blown. Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart, And you'll never walk alone, You'll never walk alone. In my sixth day and I feel FANTASTIC! Wishing you the same :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 127 Amount Saved: 27.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 14 Seconds: 1

For those planning their quit, an exercise tip!

Not having a clue I was planning to quit smoking on New Year's Day, I started a walking program last July to take a few pounds off. Basically I can get on the tube (I live in London) close to work or walk 30 minutes / 2 miles every week day to get a different train. I haven't really changed my eating habits - I still eat anything I want but not until I'm about to pop. 12 pounds lighter, I had my last smoke January 1st. Went back to work the next day, right back to my walk (during which I NEVER smoked), headphones on, inspiring music at the ready. The walk is now a routine as ingrained as my smoking was, but the difference is once I quit smoking I STILL have something that's entirely mine, that I have no reason whatsoever to give up. It feels NORMAL, will help keep the weight off and clears my head. I'm not a fitness freak in the least; to be honest I started walking in the summer because the tube was over 100 degrees (no A/C), commuters are really rude and you can only take so much of other people's halitosis blowing in your face before you want to clobber them, so I got out for some air. Now I'm REALLY getting some air! I guess what I'm trying to say is, exercise, knitting, washing the dog, origami, underwater basket weaving...start something NEW that becomes your habit, something that makes you feel good, and then let that fill your time when you quit. Change something in your life TODAY. If the time is right, you'll probably feel as good as I do on day 6! x Todash My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 127 Amount Saved: 27.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 11 Mins: 15 Seconds: 21

For those planning their quit, an exercise tip!

Oh my word...I almost replied "24 pounds, holey smokes" then I realised what I was doing! :8o: What I meant to say was Woohoo, well done you! It really does make a huge difference to get started early, overall change for the better. I'm finding this quit so much easier than I ever could have imagined and suspect that the exercise has a lot to do with it. Thanks to all for the good wishes. Day 8 and feeling great! :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 173 Amount Saved: 38.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 17 Seconds: 33

Mental Cloudiness - anything I can take, vitamins or something?

Gingko Biloba is an herb that's really supposed to improve concentration but I'd talk to your doctor before trying anything herbal, just in case. Me, I was completely exhausted during hell week, and found Ginseng to be a huge help for a boost rather than gulping down caffeine. I'm fairly convinced that much of my nicotine addition is down to trying to keep myself awake! (Silly moo.) Try going to be earlier, duh! ;) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 7 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 173 Amount Saved: 38.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 15 Mins: 18 Seconds: 9
