Non smoker for 5 days

Hi everybody; My name is Stephanie. Today is my 5th day that i have been smoke free. I tried to quit a year and a half ago. I did it with the help of the patch and i quit for a period of 10 months. I'm trying again, but this time i'm doing it cold turkey. Cravings are still very hard to get threw. However, i find it a little easier than the first time i quit. Maeby it's because this time i knew what i was getting into. I will be 28 year old in exactly one week and i told myself this should be the birthday present i give to myself. I smoked for 10 years. I was'nt a heavy smoker ( about a pack a week.), but belive me it's still very hard to stop. My boyfriend supports me alot but he dosen't realise what i'm going threw. That's why i'm happy i found this stop smoking web site. I thought it would help me to chat with other people that are going threw the same thing i am. I really hope i will last more than 10 months this time. I really want this to work but my cravings are a constant reminder of how much i'm missing the feeling i had when i was smoking....relax!! Please give me some ideas on how to get through the hard times. Thanks Talk to you soon. Stephanie

Very disapointed in myself

I am sooooo disapointed in myself. There goes my 6 days of smoke free. I'm going threw a very stressful time right now. I'm at the end of my Bachelor and having financial problems. Tonight, everything got overwelming and i went to visit a friend and i had 2 smokes. Oh my god...it's even hard for me to write this. I don't know any other way to handle my stress...other than smoking. When i left my friends place, i had in mind to stop to the store and buy a pack...but i did'nt. I KNOW I STILL NEED TO STOP. How am i going to get threw this. Sorry everybody... Congrats for everyone who keeps hangning in there. I'm proud of you. Stephanie

I really want to thank N2K, Infinite_D, Ladybugg, Lady and Bubba for all their kind words. It feels good to read that what i'm going threw is normal, and that are still people there to support me. I am still a non-smoker and will continu to be. Thanks guys! Stephanie

Hi everybody

Hi!! My name is Stephanie and i'm new on this site. I've quit smoking 4 weeks and 2 days ago. Some days are really good...other aren't that good. I tried to quit smoking a few times. The longest that i was able to stop was for 10 months (that was 2 years ago.) This time i triying cold turkey and by reading lots of book on quitting smoking. Alen Carr's book help me the most. He says in his book that he used to smoke 5 packs a day for 35 years. So i'm telling myself: if he can do it, so can i. However, sometimes i feel like i have and angel and a devil in my head. The angle tries to keep me smoke free and the devil makes me miss it so much (ha! ha!) Some days, i remember all the reasons why i stoped smoking. Other days, i can't remember one. There was a certain period that was hard for me today. My boyfriend and i had are first fire (in our fireplace outside) of the summer. It was sooo hard for me to enjoy it without a cigarette. That used to be one of my favorite spots to smoke...right next to a cracling fire. I was so pissed at myself at that moment. Instead of enjoying the moment with my boyfriend and being proud of myself for taking control of my life...i could'nt stop repeating in my head: I WOULD SO SMOKE A CIGARETTE RIGHT NOW!!!!. Anyways, i'm taking one day at a time. I'm not one of those person that can say not one more puff...it scares me to much and i don't want to put that pressior on myself. Instead, i end everyday by congradulating myself for being smoke free and facing tomorrow with a positive attitude. Wow...it felt real good writing all this. I hope this site will help me stay smoke free. Thanks everybody.

Hi everybody

Thanks everybody... I love to read your advice. I am rewarding myself this time. Every week, i put the money that i would have spent on cigarettes in a box. I save that money for a special weekend spa with my mom and my 3 sisters. We have planned to go on this special weekend in october. To this day i have 125.00$ saved. Youpi!!! Also, i want to thank you Jana for your tip. I'll absolutely try it the next time i'm around a fire. I'm sure it will help me cause i'll be thinking of you...and that will automatically make me think of a non smoker who is going threw the same things i am. I won't feel alone in all of this. Thanks....reading your comments helps me alot. Stephanie
