Stephanie, The decision to quit smoking in itself is such a huge step in the right direction. It is important when deciding to quit, that we quit for the right reasons and that we truly feel we are ready to quit smoking. Honesty with one self is key to a successful quit. Be true to yourself and your endeavor to quit smoking and you will successfully succeed. If you have not, please take advantage of our free quit program as you access your glove compartment when logging on to our site. This program will help you through each step of the quitting process. Remember the SSC Support Team is always here to help you with your quit. Please keep us posted. Take Care, Melanie __________________ The SSC Support Team

Hi everybody; My name is Stephanie. Today is my 5th day that i have been smoke free. I tried to quit a year and a half ago. I did it with the help of the patch and i quit for a period of 10 months. I'm trying again, but this time i'm doing it cold turkey. Cravings are still very hard to get threw. However, i find it a little easier than the first time i quit. Maeby it's because this time i knew what i was getting into. I will be 28 year old in exactly one week and i told myself this should be the birthday present i give to myself. I smoked for 10 years. I was'nt a heavy smoker ( about a pack a week.), but belive me it's still very hard to stop. My boyfriend supports me alot but he dosen't realise what i'm going threw. That's why i'm happy i found this stop smoking web site. I thought it would help me to chat with other people that are going threw the same thing i am. I really hope i will last more than 10 months this time. I really want this to work but my cravings are a constant reminder of how much i'm missing the feeling i had when i was smoking....relax!! Please give me some ideas on how to get through the hard times. Thanks Talk to you soon. Stephanie

I don't know if you were a closet smoker or a social smoker but since you were a light smoker you probably associate smoking with some pleasant activity. I'm not saying you have to avoid pleasant activities but you should plan exactly what you are going to do when you come up against a smoking "trigger". Deep breathing has worked for me.... a deep breath in through the nose, hold a few seconds, and released slowly through the mouth. A few repetitions and the crave will pass. Good luck on your quit.
