Personal Question (being romantic)

I don't think it is uncommon, after all we spend a lot of our energy being anxious and panicking so not much room for anything else! Try to relax and enjoy it if you can, little bits at the time and do not give yourself a hard time - that is the difficult bit!!!! ;)

Fear of dying!

I am trying to deal with my thoughts at the moment. Am finding that dealing with thoughts that I can classify as "untrue" such as dying during a panic attack are not too difficult to control as I can rationalise these. From becoming more aware of my thoughts I have realised that one particular thought causes me great anxiety and I am unsure as to how best to tackle it! I regularly get intrusive thoughts about dying. When they come into my head I feel scared and out of control as I know I can not stop my death from happening. Trying to tell myself that I will die and might as well make the most of it now does not work! This dread of my own death is quite horrible and makes me feel powerless and makes me question what is the point in everything. Whilst to a degree this can be healthy in my case it feels me with fear and anxiety. I know I am going to die eventually and there is nothing to be done about it. Anyone has any suggestions on how to come to terms with this? It pisses me off as I am wasting my life worrying about it!!!! :8o:

Taking drugs for anxiety.....

I have been on seroxat in the past and felt absolutely dreadful!!! IT was probably the worst thing I have ever done. This was 7 yrs ago. Recently I felt so fed up that I thought I would try medication again. This time I was given Citalopram but after 5 days I stopped as was feeling worse than I am without it and felt as if control and power was being taken away from me. So have decided to deal with this myself and joined this group. Am struggling a little this weekend after having a couple of pretty good weeks. What's people opinion about medication? Is it worth sticking with it? Does it just not agree with me? Do people manage this without medication?

panic attacks in my sleep

Hi I have panic attacks at night to and it is really frustrating! I am asleep so what am I suppose to challenge exactly? Somehow they seem worse that the day ones although hardly get any of those! I have a hot water bottle and place it on my stomach, breathe and do dance steps in my mind as well as telling myself that it is only a panic attack nothing serious. More often than not I am back asleep in a matter of minutes. When I first started having these I could be panicking for up to an hour at the time, so they can get easier to deal with. Someone said before that these attacks could be related to anxiety levels in the day, perhaps not even in that same day so keep a check on your anxiety in the day. My doctor also told me this. He said that levels of adrenaline can rise and rise and come out when I am quiet and relaxed ie asleep. In the day I am usually far too busy to be able to have full blwon attacks! Good luck

Been doing really well but........

this weekend have been anxious and had another bad panic attack in the night which took longer than usual to control! It has knocked my confidence and feel a little scared now - feel as if maybe I have lost the power to control the attacks! Is this just a setback?

Fear of dying!

Thank you for that. I know that this is something nobody can help with as it is very real and I have to find my own way to come to terms with my immortality. I am not just looking for a solution.... It helps a lot just to share and to hear other people's experiences so thank you for sharing with me. hugs

panic attacks in my sleep

Hi I thought I had sleep apnea too! My doctor did some blood tests and an ECG and assured me that I was well and there was no need to worry. I found this to have really helped as at least I can add this to my positive thoughts when I am having an attack. I was convinced that there was something wrong with my heart and it made my panic a lot worse. Do get it checked to put your mind at rest. Doctors should check us anyway to make sure there is nothing wrong and that what we have is panic and nothing else.

Been doing really well but........

I am doing it but somewhere I feel crap today! I wonder if these bad days are related to menstruation. It seems to get worse before my period is due. Anyone else find this?
