Sorry my friends, a minor slipped

Hi Carlos

I also get the vivid dreams at night from the patch.  I find if I take it off about 2 hours before bed, it's not as bad and I get a better sleep.  But I sure am cranky in the morning until I can get a fresh one on!

Just One...

Hi Working on it.  Thanks for asking how I'm making out.  It's getting a little easier every day, I actually went to a movie last night and didn't think about a smoke even once!  I can't wait until I experience more long stretches of time without thinking about it. Thank you everyone for your support.  Day 24 today!

First Times

I'm enjoying being able to haul my golf cart and beer around the course without having to juggle a smoke in my hand too! lol

bad craving

Hi Valic

Good for you for not giving in to your craving!  I also had a hard time during the first few weeks, and wanted to give in everytime my two boys started arguing or kicking up a fuss (they're 6 & 10)  But having a smoke won't make your children do what you want, or behave any better. They're so young, they have no idea what you're going through or what you're feeling.  With mine, I can at least use "if you act up, I'm going to start smoking again"  I feel terrible when I have to say this, but when I say this they know I'm serious and have to pitch in and try to make it a bit easier for me to cope with the cravings.  When you find it unbearable, you need to find something to distract yourself such as logging in here like you did today!  Maybe try doing something different with the kids that you don't normally do.  I try to avoid anything that I used to associate with smoking.  If you need that 5-10 minute break, a little TV won't hurt them.  Make yourself a tea and sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy it!

Take care and hang in there!  You're not alone in this.

I messed up, disgusted with myself

Hi All

After 5 great smoke free weeks I really messed up this weekend.  I was extremely upset on Saturday night and I had a couple little cigars (I usually smoked cigarettes).  Then I woke up Sunday and was so wound up, I smoked another one that morning.  I feel like I've cheated myself and there are no words for how disappointed I am with myself.  I probably could have handled the situation better, and the smoking didn't improve anything!  I feel like I've wasted 5 hard weeks.  I haven't smoked again, but feel like I should reset my counter.  What do you all think?

My Mileage:

My Quit Date: 11/06/2012
Smoke-Free Days: 35
Cigarettes Not Smoked: 525
Amount Saved: $280.00
Life Gained:
Days: 2 Hrs: 17 Mins: 1 Seconds: 8

I messed up, disgusted with myself

Thank you all so much for your kind words.  I sat here debating for quite a while whether or not to post that I had slipped.  As for how to handle the kind of stress I had on the weekend, I'm not sure quite how to cope with it yet.  I'm going to chalk it up to a bad weekend and start fresh and go with the mindset that nothing is going to make me smoke, it doesn't make anything easier to deal with, just makes my breath stink! lol  I have re-set my quit meter, almost one day in.  If I can make it 5 weeks, I can do it again.  I don't need cigarettes, and I know I feel so much better without them!
