Tomorrow is Day One

Hi SneakySmoker,
I agree with Pappy about you doing a great job so far.  Do whatever you have to do to not smoke. Ohh, and watch out for those mint lifesavers, I got addicted to them when I quit smoking.  That's an easy habit to break though so don't worry about it too much!  Stay strong and keep your quit journey going forever.

Hey Sneaky Smoker you are doing a great job. Keep up the fight. I found that listening to some of my favorite music while driving also works as a great distraction.

Day 10! I feel good. It’s not the nicotine that I am craving. It’s the “what do I do with my hands” issue when I am driving. I have some mints that I have been using instead of smoking. Regular life savers mints to keep my mouth occupied.

Hi SneakySmoker,
"I just feel out there and with spells of dizziness" This is normal at the beginning of the quit. "I am also experiencing a headache" This is also normal. It could be from stress like you said, but believe it or not, it could be from your brain receiving to much oxygen that it's not accustomed to, now that you have quit smoking. Give it some time and it will clear up. If it gets too bad or you are really concerned about it, you can talk to your doctor about it. Three days down, hell week is almost half over for you. Keep it going, you're doing great!
Stay strong.

Nice Job !! The best any of us can do is to take this one step at a time. I have found for me that the best way to take this is one minute, one hour one day at a time. Tomorrow is another day that I can't predict what challenges I will face, so there is no sense in worrying about the things to come. Your doing great, don't let the nicotine beast beat you. You can do this!!!!!

Thank you Timbo. I made it through yesterday just fine. I felt great, better than I have in months. Seriously. Today, I am going through some of the symptoms listed on this website. I just feel out there and with spells of dizziness. I am also experiencing a headache but I am likely to chalk that up to stress. I don’t really know how to explain it but I don’t like it. I’m just going to try to keep my head down, plow through work today and pick it up on the other side. My quit meter is a reminder of what I am doing. My daughter is a reminder of why I am doing it. This forum is a big help. It holds me accountable.

Day two wasn’t terrible. Today is the big test. It’s the first work day back. Big test as my job is stressful. I picked up some mints and fruits to replace the smoking. We shall see but I feel pretty good aside for some aches and pains. That, of course, could just be due to a number of other non-smoking related issues.

Ok. So today ended up being day one. I miscalculated and figured it would be better for day one to be a non-work day. I have also took the liberty of telling my closest confidant at work. We work together on a bunch of projects so it really only made sense to. Also, he is the only person at my work that knows for a fact that I am a smoker. He isn’t a smoker so it’s fairly easy support to have. Anyway, day one was today. I feel ok. Day two is tomorrow and an entirely different set of challenges.
