Hey Grrrrr!!!

I'm sending you a belated welcome and congratulations on your decision to quit smoking!  I know how tough it is in the beginning, but hang tough, buddy!!!  One thing that we try to emphasize to all of our new quit buddies...  if the going gets really tough, post for help and wait for 5 replies!!!  By then, your craving will be gone and you will be stronger for winning another battle against the dreaded nico-demon!!!  Just think...  you're on day 4 now and by the end of day 4 all of the nicotine is normally out of our bodies!   Try to keep a strong Positive Mental Attitude now, because all of the cravings are now something that you'll have to mentally get over!!

Stick with and learn from the Program!!  Most importantly, keep reminding yourself every time you have one of those strong cravings the reason you are quitting to begin with!!!  Then get on those coping mechanisms...  ice water, long walk, licorice, or what ever!!!  My coping mechanism was getting on here and reading and posting to keep myself distracted!!!  What ever works...  just do it, buddy!!

Yeah grrr - just when you think you have a moments peace, it sneaks up on you and BAM! hits you between the eyes doesn't it?  You're doing great though.  Hang in there.

Jay - I love hearing people call themselves a "non-smoker"!  We don't often give ourselves that credit when it is so deserved!  We tend to shy from that base terminology because we doubt ourselves and our abilities.  Thanks for that, it makes me happy and proud to hear it!

Does that even make sense?
Angie

I gotta admit your name is pretty good!  I think that's how we all felt in those beginning days.  You can do this Grrrr, just remember that each day gets a little easier.  Lay low for a while, work out your coping tools and then use them.  They really help.  Deep, deep breathing was a lifesaver.  Lots of water, walking, naps when possible.  All these things will help.  Post often.  That really helps too.
You've made one grrrreat decision!!!!

Cheers,
Jan
