Welcome aboard!!! It has also taken me more than one attempt to quit for good!!! I also took Chantix and found that it really minimized the gut-wretching craves I experienced on previous quits!!! Luckily, I also found this site just before my quit date!! The combination of the SSC and the chantix was detrimental to sucessfully quitting this time!!!
Like Henny Penny said, success will also take a Positive Mental Attitude going into the process. These forums and the program contain all of the tools you will need to become the master over the nico-demon!!! So, read and learn and prepare yourself well!!! Come here often and I am positive that you will be able to do this!!!!
One last thing.... post for help if a craving ever gets so strong that you are thinking about caving in and lighting up!!! Wait for 5 responses and by that time your craving will be gone!!! That has saved many of your new quit buddies here!
Good luck, Buddy!!!

Hello Bryan I'd like to make a suggestion to you in regard to quitting smoking. Keep in mind that this is only a suggestion and what works for me might not necessarily work for you. Gradually decreasing the amount of cigarettes smoked isn't a good way to stop smoking and I'll explain why. I beleive the secret to successfully quitting smoking is to stop smoking only once with the intention of not starting again. By decreasing consumption it perpetuates nicotine withdrawal by being in a near constant state of craving because once the next cigarette is smoked the withdrawal begins all over again. I see this as unnecessary suffering. I didn't enjoy my last cigarettes. I near coughed my lungs out so i didn't miss them. The last night of smoking I smoked till I was near sickened. Needless to say I haven't smoked since. By all means quit in your own way and in your own time , I just don't want anyone to suffer needlessly. breather 57 Addict 0
