Understanding the Causes of Slips and how to Prevent them

Hi again 2tone You said it I have been rather strong-willed lately (and not just with smoking) and that tends to make people uncomfortable. I do feel very, very strong about this. 2tone Success/confidence go hand in hand I am assuming when you say strong willed in other ways, I assume you mean confident.. and determined, and focused on growth. Hi 2tone... Congradulations for sticking up for yourself enough to QUIT ! I know what it's like for family and friends to not support.. Just remember>>> who<<<< your quiting for. And that's you. Good chance you haven't really changed. Without fail... you will see who your friends are as soon as you have a goal. Your quit.... is something that makes them look inside themself. Makes a person uncomfortable. An alcoholic most likely hangs out with other alcoholics... smokers with smokers. Always when one quits... the others get their feathers ruffled. So you hang in there... Don't worry about them.. related or not. They'll get over it ! ;-) My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/21/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 243 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,658 Amount Saved: $1212.57 Life Gained: Days: 33 Hrs: 4 Mins: 2 Seconds: 57

Excellent topic, stickin. I agree on your point about an event pushing a person beyond their limit or tolerance. I have to admit that, even now, when I get real stressed like has been happening lately, I do have thoughts of smoking. Not craves, not even desires or urges. More like memories. Still have some associations that need to be broken, I guess. No biggie. I survived killer craves and 3 month long nags. This stuff is candy. I continue on just as I got here. Smoking is not an option. Nothing I experience is worse than smoking. Nothing I experience will kill me. Smoking will. So I don't smoke. No choice to be made. It just is. I'm closing on 2 years. Why on this green earth would I toss all that for a moment's whim? Or maybe I just have never hit my limit? Hmmmmmm. Nah. :eg: Keep up the great quits, everyone. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 605 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,100 Amount Saved: $2299 Life Gained: Days: 112 Hrs: 9 Mins: 35 Seconds: 23
