Best birthday present ever

Hi everyone, I made it to day 5 and I'm actually feeling much better!! I'm still using the patch and as hard as it's been it has been the best gift I could give to myself and my daughter. I'm 42 years young today and so you all know why I also chose to quit smoking is my nephew committed suicide 2 years ago on the 17th of March and I decided I needed to live for my daughter, myself and to make that date something positive instead of negative. He will never be forgotten and he used to pick on me for smoking so this is also a gift for him and my family. I know with all of your help I will succeed. 26 years at a pack and 1/2 a day is a slow death and I want to enjoy the rest of my life smoke free and healthy. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT:) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 203 Amount Saved: $55 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 13 Mins: 15 Seconds: 19

Fell off the wagon....but getting back on....

Don't beat yourself up! The important thing is that you haven't given up on yourself. You can do this and I know emotional situations are hard but it does pass. When things get bad come here and write. The best part of this forum is that you don't have to do it alone and your not alone. I only have 5 days smoke free but if it wasn't for this forum I don't think I could've made it past day one. I'm using the patch because I coudn't afford Chantix and my insurance wouldn't cover it but be careful using this if it isn't prescribed by a doc. Keep writing and don't give up you made 58 days before and can make it all the way My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 5 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 204 Amount Saved: $55 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 13 Mins: 17 Seconds: 24

really bad craving

I had a rough night arguing with my boyfriend, daughter and over the phone with Mom about my father. I went for a long walk last night and I'm pissed off beyond belief. Nothing to hit, nothing to smoke, just a few beers. I woke up feeling depressed and moody I haven't smoked but I want to. Day 8 and I'm ready to give up until I get rid of all the crap in my life which right now is my family and their non support. I need some encouragement. Has anyone else gone through this after a week or am I just looking for excuses? really bad craving

Thanks Peguin well it's almost 10am and I haven't smoked. I don't even have any cigarettes and I really don't want to . I know if I do I'll end up beating myself up over it and regret it. That's why I had to post something for help. I'm going to take a long walk and maybe leave town for the day alone and do something for me for a change. I threw on a patch and hopefully I'll feel better soon. Part of what triggered this mood too is that my boyfriend is smoking not within my eyeshot but he forgets I can smell again and I can tell when he smokes. 26 years at a pack and 1/2 a day is way too long and I've gone too far to turn back. I never went this long without a smoke and sometimes it's hard. Thanks again!! really bad craving

Ok I'm still bummed out but feeling a little better. I slapped on a patch and took a pill for the anxiety. Sometimes it feels like I lost a loved one and when I think about it I have. Cigarettes got me through some rough times in my life and it's been a part of my life for more than half my life and now it's learning how to live without it. I am still determined to see this through. I've had other addictions in the past and quit but by far this is the hardest. I know I can do this and I won't give up I won't give up I won't give up thanks for all the advise. Damn PMS!!! LOL :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 8 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 296 Amount Saved: $88 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 19 Mins: 16 Seconds: 33

Hi Paul I'm a little confused by your quit meter, regardless the first few days are the worst and I had really bad headaches. Try to get some sleep if you can, drink water and keep posting. I would do some deep breathing. I tried to sleep for the first few days to get over the first few days. Are you going cold turkey or another method? I still go through rough times and it helps to post when I feel like crap. Everyone here is really supportive and we're here for you!! Hang in there and don't give up on yourself!! Together we can all do this!! really bad craving

Hi Everyone, I've made it through the day without a smoke but it's been a battle all day. It's been a crappy day all in all but rented some movies did grocery shopping chewed a ton of gum. I keep telling myself tomorrow will be a better day. I miss my motorcycle I sold it last August and today in New York the weather would have been great to go for a ride and clear the mind. That's a goal for me to get another bike when my daughter reaches 17 but for now one day and at times one second at a time. I'm still holding on and will make it!!! Day 10 and feeling great!!

I'm feeling so much better. I'm on day 10 of not smoking, wearing a patch and I still hear those voices telling me one drag. It really is incredible how we allowed our lives to be controlled for so long by cigarettes. I took my first long drive to my mother's house yesterday and bought a bag of twizzlers to occupy my hands. this was the first time in 26year driving without a cigarette in my hand. I actually threw one out the window out of habit when I was down to the last bite LOL. I couldn't have done this alone and I know I'll need your support for a long time but thank you thank you thank you!!! New Non-Smoker

Hi MLK and Welcome, I'm glad to hear you have a family support and all of non smokers here!! At times I think maybe one drag it won't hurt.. It won't when I'm dead. It isn't worth it and you should be so proud of yourself making it through the first worst days. I smoked between 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day for 26 years and I feel better today than I have in a long time. I look forward to when flowers bloom and can smell them for how they really should smell. It's incredible!! Keep breathing through the cravings it will pass, and keep posting!!!
