11/20/07. I've never posted anything online so I hope I am doing this right. Just want to introduce my self. Have tried seriously 2 times before and gave up. Have never sought outside help before now. Am terrified of the "going crazy" in my head phase. How long does this last for most people?
Thanx, Mossman
WOW - There are a whole bunch of me out there. I checked back and found several messages in about an hour. Thank you. I've been reading the info in the program for a few days now and have done some of the exercises. I'll be back after work. Thanx again!!!

Hey There. I'm brand new to the internet and am wondering do i post messages just on this Forum Title or does one jump around to different topics. Am excited about getting involved but not quite sure how the forum thing works. Is there a brief tutorial available or could someone give me a little advice. Thanx,
P.S. - Have been reading a lot here for the last few days and have found you all quite amazing and generous. I'm looking forward to the days I can help others along.
Have been doing the homework in advance of my quit date and am feeling optimistic.

Hi Tresa, Mossman here. Don't have access to the net every day but I'm still here. I live in a place where dial-up is my only option and we get kicked off frequently because we live so far away from town. So if I disappear for a day or two I'll be back. Have been reading, educating myself, cutting back, using the tools. Sometimes I feel very confident and sometimes not. I do know that I am in too deep to ever turn back to feeling ok about being a smoker. Thanks for checking on me. I'll be back after the weekend.

Hi Rocket, Moss here. I am following your idea about cutting down and have been successful 4 of the last 5 days. I don't know how long you are on vaca but I should would appreciate a post to let me know how you are doing when you get back online. Hope your 1rst day went ok. I found myself thinking bout ya today because my quit date is coming soon.
Of all the posts I've been reading, the ones about "attitude change" seem to be ringing my bell the loudest. Good luck

Hi Revel - Moss here, I have my quit date set but might be bumping it up a couple days because i will have a few days off away from people. I'm also a 33 yr smoker. I am in no position to give advice yet but have found that doing the homework, using the tools and educating myself about this nasty addiction have been helpful in boosting my motivation in advance of quit date.
Good Luck to You and me too

Quit date coming soon. Hey, Let's give a trial run and see what to expect. 2,4,6, 12, 28, 36 hours later and I verbally tore in to one my students...... What just happened? This is ridiculous.
This isn't me. I'm in control.... No I'm not.... Left the room and tried to breathe, tried to breathe, tried to breathe. Is this worth it?
Next morning and after 4 cigs went to my Doc and fessed up about smoking. (been lying to him for 3 years now). Wow - all these years of telling myself I can quit whenever I want. Just haven't wanted to yet.
Bottom line is "I need help" with this.
At the Doc's office, Let it all out. A grown man reduced to tears over cigarettes. I'm going to miss this awful friend. I have no memory of life without this addiction. This "friend" of mine has both kept me alive and has been killing me.
I wanted to try this cold turkey but decided to use Chantix after talking to my Doc.
I've been reading, reading, reading and have my plan in place.
P.S. Am changing my name to "Limited internet access 2 finger typer guy who took 30 minutes to type this post" formerly Mossman

First and Foremost Thanks to all of you who have given me some great advice about preparing for this. A couple major craves earlier today but I trudged through and just like many of you said, Wait 5 minutes, and they lessened.
Also I was able to arrange the next few days away from students so I can act idiotic by myself if the need arises. I'm hoping for a decent internet connection the next few days so I can reach out for help and also share my experience with other newbies.
Hope to check back this evening - Moss
P.S. ALOHA - I will keep my nickname the same (just for you) ;)
