Hey Gang, I haven't looked at this thread for a week now. Very spooky to look back at how insecure I was only 10 days ago. But here we are and I'm entering week 2 without smokin'. In some ways, the pre-quit week was harder than the quit week. The anticipation of those initial withdrawals and craves was terrifying. They turned out not to be as bad as my last quit attempt. If there is a lessson there for others, it's not to stress yourself out. Prepare, prepare and then prepare.
Crazycuban, I've been following your experience along with a few others. What a journey and Congrats to you. I'm not having any noticeable side effects with chantix but do not like the idea of using it. The craves were almost unbearable at some points so it makes me wonder what it would have been like without it.
Freedom26 - 2 weeks gone - GOOD FOR YOU. How would you compare week 2 to week 1???
Gratitude to all
Moss

How do you spell the sound of a fart?? I think it is
"FFFFllloooppuwhoop". Of course that depends on the type and length.
come on gang - you know you're thinking about it. We definitely need a fart thread, or perhaps at least a spelling match.

Hey Terri - We seem to have a lot of parallels. Before my official quit date I decided to try a quit without making a big announcement - I guess you could call it a test run. I caved on the second night - felt terribly guilty - went straight to my doc the next day - decided to use a NRT . Then I did all the homework and worked the tools for another week before I tried again.
Wherever you find yourself in these days to come - These good folks are only a click or two away. I foo-fooed the straw idea at first but by gosh it works for me. Breathe in - Breathe out

Yup, Just a regular straw. Get the wider ones though so you can get enough air. Cut them shorter. I tried the skinny cocktail straws first but kept turning blue and falling over. Just Kiddin'. Keep in touch, OK.
We got our first snow this morning. Looks Darn Pretty out there.

What a ride so far!! . Just checking in to say Hey and share a few thoughts. For the last 12 days I've been surprised, delighted, ornery, scared, hopeful, confused, Thankful, tired, hungry, a few more I am forgetting at the moment, and smoke free.
After working through the tools, reading the material in the workbook and lots of posts, the word "trust" keeps resonating in my thoughts. I have made it an important part of my plan. Simply put, Trust that the successful quitters, the vets, here are telling me the truth. It does get easier, you will have bad moments and days, they will pass, you will become more positive, The craves will turn to thoughts, the clouds will lift, and so on and so on. I've had some good days and a few tough ones but so far I can say that you all have told me the truth. It is getting easier already.
THANK YOU for that. I am still nico free.
(Terri, How Ya Doin'? )

Gin, Isn't it surprising to be having a great day and then , WHAM,. I keep thinking we should be getting over that. Freedom26 is about a week in front of us and I believe her. The worst is almost over. We will be looking at 2 weeks real soon here. Let's not give up now.

I'm not sure what has happened the last few days but I seem to be stuck in a frame of mind that is not pleasant and is not going away. The cravings made themselves at home 3 days ago and it feels like they are thinking about moving in permanently. I went to bed Friday night proud and positive and woke up Saturday in the dumps and in doubt of being able to stick.
I did recognize Saturday that there was a big trigger in effect. We were snowed in, rented some movies, had a bottle of wine in the fridge, and no pressures from the work world. This has always been like a little vacation for my wife and I. And what goes better on Vaca than a good ole smoke, (or ten). Anyway, I looked at that in the eye and said, OK, this is a big trigger. Now let's move on. The problem is that the "moving on" seems to be stuck in the neutral gear. This is the first time in my 2 weeks that I can't seem to step across that battle-line. It has been 3 days now.
I like to post when I feel like I can close with a positive note and I'm trying. My HOOOOO_HOOOOO is stuck in FOO_FOO mode.
I have not smoked. If this resonates with you please let me borrow your steering wheel today.
With Gratitude - Moss
